Tiny House

My sister is thinking about putting a tiny house on a plot of land she owns. She called today on her way to check one out. She discribed it to me as she gave it a look see. It was actually one of those small construction site office buildings. It was one long room without any dividing walls. She found plenty of outlets and after looking it over she decided it would work.
Her plot of land is located in a beautiful place right at the foot of the mountain. She plans to fix up her tiny house and rent it out. She and her husband live in a ranch a few miles away so she can run up there and work on it any time she wants. I can't wait to see how it turns out. Do you like tiny houses.

How tiny is tiny?
Over here, our apartments are already very small, and a "tiny house" to us is actually a big place.
Our situation is still not as bad as Hong Kong.
In Hong Kong, you have to pay half a million dollars for an apartment of 180 square feet.
Even by Hong Kong’s cramped standards, apartments are getting tinier and tinier. While apartment values are rising throughout the world, nowhere is the squeeze on buyers as great as it is in this city.

I love tiny houses. I'd love to own one one day as well... I've been looking into city regulations (a glance really) and pricing some out...
I hope your sister enjoys being a land lady so to speak.

@RubyHawk There is a builder up in the mountains of NC (so really only about 2.5 hours away from me) that makes the most lovely looking ones....
It won't be anything I Can do soon as I need to save for it, and it's really just a passing thought.. but they are definitely very cute.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I like that they are inexpensive and easy to keep up. You do have to be careful. Some cost way too much.

@RubyHawk The ones we saw were more like 'itsy bitsy' to us.

@PatZAnthony I think some builders are taking the middle ground. Some are way too small.

I love tiny houses! I could definitely see myself living in one some day when the kids are grown and out of the house. Of course, I don't know if the missus would be interested in one, but if I was single and on my own, a tiny house would be the way to go for me.

She might welcome the idea if it means less time spent on hkusework.

@RubyHawk Even if you never move, you are at least keeping your options open!

I watch Tiny House and Tiny House Nation whenever I can. My husband thinks we could do it but I think we'd end out killing each other. I see couples with one or two small children move into a tiny house and wonder what the heck they are thinking. Those kids are going to grow up. They may even end out having another kid. Tiny house, for me, would be a one person home. Renting it out is a great idea, especially if you have the land to do it. I wish I did. There are some tiny houses that are quite spacious and could be doable. The only benefit for me might be that it would get me outside more, but that wouldn't necessarily be a plus if I was living among the mosquitoes.

I like them for doll houses. My friend'said ex-husband built their youngest a doll house the size of a utility house. So I wouldn't like it for an adult, but I would for children play house.

How tiny is this house you're renting. I guess it would be good for people who doesn't want a real big spaces.

It is a great idea and all the more practical with her living nearby to keep an eyeon it.
