Anyway, I decided I should start buying more almond milk as it is likely better for you than regular milk..and it is OK, I like some of the flavored varieties. However, it is not good in coffee in my opinion. It has so little fat in it, that it doesn't really do anything for the coffee. I might drink some almond milk use it in cooking, or even in cereal, but in coffee..it is a no go for me..what say you?

I have checked the ingredients in the almond milk that is on the shelves: Filtered Water, Almonds, Cane Sugar, Sea Salt, Natural Flavor, Locust Bean Gum, Sunflower Lecithin, Gellan Gum. Calcium Carbonate, Vitamin E Acetate, Zinc Gluconate, Vitamin A Palmitate, Riboflavin (B2), Vitamin B12, Vitamin D2. I think that I still prefer normal milk to locust bean gum and sunflower lecithin, and they call it healthy. It's healthy if you make it yourself at home.

Milk is acidic and probably not the best thing for you. My almond milk doesn't have all those extra added ingredients, but it does have some of them.

@LadyDuck You don;t have to get it sweetened. Experts call it a heart healthy and nutrient dense milk alternative.

@Courtlynn My grandparents had a dairy farm when I was young..they had some of the best tasting milk ever. We used to drink it out of a big sanitary cooler. It was soooo goood! They won statewide awards for the quality of their milk.

I have almond milk in my coffee at home - during weekends. Believe me, I love dairy milk and cream, but my tummy can't handle it so much - so almond milk has been the best taste substitute for me. I enjoy it in my coffee, but it's not as creamy as dairy milk would be.

This is true. I saw some kind of coconut milk subsitute on TV they claim is fatty like milk. No idea how much it costs, the calories or anything else.

@snowy22315 Coconut stuff is supposed to healthier (we just use the oil . . . and the canned milk for cooking at times), but I don't know how it is in coffee. It is fatty, but good for your heart fatty apparently. I just know I don't like the taste of coconut water!

So expensive, I already have to buy lactaid for my son, I just use regular 2 % milk in my coffee.

This almond milk only cost 1.99 at Wegman's. The equivalent size milk would be the same. I hate lactaid milk. I tried that once years ago. Even if I had a milk allergy I would find a substitute.

Normal milk with it's fat content is defintely better in coffee and tea.
