@JolietJake wrote about making two policemen angry and it brought to mind a funny story. A friend of ours, when aged about 21, drove home quite drunk one night from a party. He had one turn and about 100 yards to go to get to his mother's house but before he made the turn, a police car turned on its lights and siren, signalling him to stop.
Rather than stop on the highway, he turned and drove to his house. He got out of the car and started explaining to the two young cops why he didn't stop immediately he saw the flashing light. At about that point, our friend's mother came out of the house. She was in her dressing-gown, had her hair in curlers and her feet in pink fluffy slippers. She put her hands on her hips and said in a loud voice 'What's he done THIS time?'
The police took one look at her, hopped in their car and left, leaving our friend to the mercy of his angry Mum.

Yes, they thought the young man would be in enough trouble without them adding to it.

We had a card from that lady just a day or two ago. She has just sold her house and moved into a retirement home.

His punishment was probably more severe than anything the cops could dish out. Don't get on mom's bad side!
