Beware the angry mother!

@JolietJake wrote about making two policemen angry and it brought to mind a funny story. A friend of ours, when aged about 21, drove home quite drunk one night from a party. He had one turn and about 100 yards to go to get to his mother's house but before he made the turn, a police car turned on its lights and siren, signalling him to stop. Rather than stop on the highway, he turned and drove to his house. He got out of the car and started explaining to the two young cops why he didn't stop immediately he saw the flashing light. At about that point, our friend's mother came out of the house. She was in her dressing-gown, had her hair in curlers and her feet in pink fluffy slippers. She put her hands on her hips and said in a loud voice 'What's he done THIS time?' The police took one look at her, hopped in their car and left, leaving our friend to the mercy of his angry Mum.

No, that's true. But thanks to his mother's influence, this guy is now a very solid citizen and a real credit to his family.

Probably Mum. She was a lovely lady though, now approaching 90 and the son is a very nice, solid citizen.

Wow, his mother sounds like she is going to make him kneel the whole night. No wonder the police takes the wiser action of leaving him to his mother.

I love that story. Reminds of the time my dad asked a student why he didn't show up for detention. The student said, "Well your wife also gave me a detention and I thought I better go to that one." My dad's reply, "You made the right choice."
