Do you ever worry that you forgot to lock the door?

Just thinking about it freaks me out as there have been numerous cases of thefts reported recently over here. We forgot to lock the front door yesterday night. We normally check if we have locked the door before going to bed every night but this was not the case yesterday.  I can't believe I slept so peacefully despite the fact that the door was not locked. I will now be more cautious and ensure that I have locked the door before going to bed. Have you ever forgotten to lock the door at night?

It is good that you do not have to check and the doors are always locked.

I am not afraid of it. Since there will be a guard in the lobby of this building. Besides, we have two doors. One is iron and the other is the wood. There is even a professional lock in the iron door. And if anybody tries to open the door without the key, it will alarm.

Actually, there were times I leave the house without even closing the door so it was wide open while I was away and thank God no thief ever spotted it.

@Nawsheen I've heard few news of stealing around the subdivision but so far I've never been victimized.

You were fortunate indeed. I think it also depends where you live. If the neighborhood is safe you do not have to worry that much

We generally don't lock the front door and there is nothing much to worry about it. You know people here have to pay for disposal of their used items like fridge and couches or kitchen items so none cares to take your belongings away.

@suni51 Interesting. If I need anything, I'll come take from your house. Make sure the door is not locked, ya. Happy to help you save the money to pay for disposal.

@Jlyn10 transportation costs more than a used item. I will post couple of photos today for items kept for council to pick up on scheduled date

Yes, I forgot a few nights in my life and couple of times I left the keys in the keyhole. Thankfully nothing happened but one never knows. I'm going to check my door now and go to bed. Good night!

Our house has three flats/apartments. We've decided not to lock the front door. In the case of an emergency, it's good to know that you can get out of the house at once. You can lock your door for your peace of mind, but a burglar can always get in as you surely know.

@Nawsheen One night I woke up and saw a shadow at our sliding door. The moon behind made the person look huge and more daunting! He tried our door and it made a thud as it resisted the move. That night we were so pleased that we had remembered to check all our doors. Only time that it has happened. You never know when, though, so be vigilant!

I allways check the door before going to bed... But once my daughter got up in her sleep and went sleepwalking and apparently opened the lock without being aware of it, only in the morning we found out (it happened only once so it does not worry me )

Wow, you were like nothing I understand you, it happens to me a few times. Here in my house my mom always lock every door, and we all are very careful with that, it's something we always do, because in this last months there were robbers that entered to people's houses and steal everything they had. So, we lock the doors and never leave the house alone.

Yes we get this way when we leave or place all the time I have to get out of the truck and check the door. If I am here by myself I always lock the door even though I have nothing to worry about we have no neighbors and we live out in the country.

This happened to me once. I was amazed because nothing bad happened to me, and I thank God for that! What happened was, the latch wasn't able to reach the latch hole (I really don't know what does that called) so technically, I closed the door, but not enough fully close it. My BAD! I currently reside in San Andres. Yes, near the slums of Manila, Philippines. Forgetting to lock the door is a BIG NO!

it is my responsibility to lock the back door after i feed the dogs. i did that last night. this morning though, my sister told me that the back door was not locked. i had to stress my point that i locked it, but still she insisted. i did not respond anymore because i will stress myself if i stick to my word. oh well, that is the problem when you have an obsessive-compulsive sister.
