Something Else Very, Very Bad

Early Saturday morning, while in Boston, I received a phone call from our younger son, who was kitty sitting Doodles, the cat, at our home.
It was horrendous news. His best friend was killed in a car accident around 1:16 AM. As far as we know, he fell asleep at the wheel, ran over a rotary, and hit a tree. He probably never knew what happened, thank goodness. His head went through the windshield, he was ejected from the car, and the car was ripped in half. He had just turned 32 years old.
We tried to console our son as best we could. His fiancée stopped by our home to be with him. He will help his friend's brother write the eulogy for the memorial service.
Such heartbreak all around.

I am so so sorry for your son, and everyone who knew him. That is so awful. =( I will pray for the comfort of everyone that loved him.

@just4him His friend was so handsome and sweet. His head was split open and he had severe trauma to his upper body. His family went to say goodbye to him today. His brother needs to touch him one more time before he's cremated. They will hold a memorial service on Thursday.

so sorry for your son and the guy was so young. thats terrible. if only he had been wearing the seatbelt and had air bags he might have survived it

After all the years that have gone by we still remember all of them and the day it happened but we also remember their being alive which helps a lot.

@DianneN this really really really kills me to read. I know your son doesn't know me at all, but tell him one of your MyLot friends is praying for him. Give your son a hug from me. And hugs to you. I pray for his friend's family.

@DianneN , I had to let you know I am thinking of you all . I am sorry, I thought it had been established that he had fallen asleep behind the wheel, but see now that that is not the case and I hope the autopsy will provide the answers needed. Thanks for messaging me, Catherine. I appreciate it, We still don't know what caused the accident. A friend of our son has been dealing with police reports, the morgue, etc. They are hoping for an autopsy to find out what truly happened. Thanks you so much.

How sad to hear that. Anne's brother in law (66) was killed in a motorcycle accident in Boise on Thursday. Sometimes things happen so fast.

i am so sorry. your son is surely devastated knowing his best friend is gone forever now. the sight of the car is giving me chills. surely nobody survived in that kind of car accident. reading your comment about the victim's head being split open is so sad to imagine.

Yeah...My hearty Condolences to your son's friend.Your son will really miss him so much.Even l think every time when logging in to mylot, suppose l am not seeing my dear friend post for more than two days l worry and speak to myself that they have some offline work and soon come to Online in Mylot like that .
