See You Later

Canada
July 6, 2017 6:52am CST
My sister and I will be leaving in a couple of hours, heading for camp. We camp at a state park, the one our parents took us us to as children. We started taking our children camping in 1986. We missed one year since because my sister's house had a fire and my business in Port Dalhousie, Ontario was too busy to leave it. Our children grew up camping together and still join us when they can. This year two of Elaine's girls will camp next to us for a long weekend. Last year they all joined us for a good time. The skies are cloudy and it is suppose to rain. We hope we get our tents up before the rain but I have a feeling we are going to get wet. I won't melt.... The photo I took just now, showing some clouds but a beautiful scene of land my dad saved from housing delevoments by buying a few hundred acres from a farmer who needed to sell it back in the 1950's I'm still trying to catch up but thankfully, life gets in the way. I'll see you later, after camping. (No electricity, no wifi, no phones) we are taking some side trips, I might get on while on those trips... Happy July!

I am sorry that your camping will start with rain, it must be pretty uncomfortable to set the tents under the rain. Good luck, may be the sun will come back for you.

Aw...that can be a bit off color...but may be it will be greenery all around when you wake up...I also love how the ground smells when it receives first showers.

@vandana7 this is a pop up - I use it for craft shows, while camping we use it for shade and so we don't get wet...

We don't mind rain as long as we are set up and ready for it. Setting up in the rain takes more time than in the dry so we usually set up a pop-up for a roof over our head and play games until it stops. This year my sister's girls set us up while we played with the children. It was beautiful!

What a beautiful piece of property here. I can see the clouds moving in-but you've got the right attitude, you won't melt! Enjoy your time together camping, can't wait to hear the stories that you'll bring back in August.

Have a great time! We are planning 2 camping trips this summer, both in August. We'll go to Old Forge the first weekend in August, camp for 2 nights, and bring the kids to Enchanted Forest. Then Labor Day weekend we'll go back to Saranac Lake and camp for 3 nights. I am definitely looking forward to it. I used to camp near Saranac Lake when I was a kid. I absolutely love it up there!

When the kids were small we camped twice, one in July and one in August. In the Adirondacks we found August was too cold, we couldn't stay up and enjoy a fire because it was so cold at night. Then we chose two weeks in July.... I've never been to Saranac but I've heard it is gorgeous. Enjoy your camping!
