Krispy Kreme, anyone?

# 76 I’ve got some yummy donuts today just because… The franchise is pretty international having outlets outside its USA origin in over two dozen countries all over the world. So I’m sure you are all familiar with the signature delicious melt-in-your-mouth smooth texture of these donuts. But, do you know which country outside of North America opened its first Krispy Kreme store? (No asking Google for the answer!) I’ll share these donuts with you. The top four are their famous trade-marked Original Glazed. In the middle row I’ve got a couple of Strawberry Jam – their take of the traditional jam donuts with strawberry flavored filling and coated with powdered sugar. Next to them are Strawberry Iced and Vanilla Slice which is filled with vanilla custard. The bottom row from left to right is: Kookies-n-Kreme, Tiramisu, Traditional Cinnamon, and Dulce de Leche which is basically caramel flavored donut with smooth and rich caramel filling. Which one do you choose? Hurry, it’s only available to the first twelve responses…

That white with choco lines looks delicious. Hope you still having them. I don't think we are having stores of them here. Not at least in my city. But they surely looks yummy.

Oh yes, the Vanilla Slice is yummy! You're lucky, no one chose it yet. It's yours now!

Traditional jam - hard to half, and tricky to eat without jam squirting everywhere...

@pgntwo I think raspberry feels closer to the traditional jam doughnuts...

@sishy7 Thank you. I actually think the jam of choice should be raspberry, don't ask me why.

I've heard of them but I've never eaten one, I generally don't care that much for sweets. You asked which other country opened the first store and I'm thinking Mexico.

Ohhh, ok @sishy7 I just figured Mexico was South American so it qualified and boy do they love the Dulce de Leche

@rebelann Yeah, I guess Dulce de Leche is some kind of popular Argentinian dessert so the KK flavor was inspired by it...

Yours is the 25th response and the first one who answered my question... I guess everyone else were too busy looking at the donuts... I think it's safe for me to assume no one else were interested to guess, so I'll reveal the answer... It's... Australia, of course! It's kinda a tricky question - if you notice I said outside 'North America'... The first international store opened in Canada in December 2001, but outside the continent, KK first opened in Australia in 2003.

I am a Krispy Kreme junky! I live right next to one of their stores, and it is the location where they make all the donuts for sell in all the grocery stores in our city. I pretty much stop there every morning on the way to work for one of their delicious glazed donuts. I love watching them make the donuts, as they have big plate glass windows that let you see into the back where they make the donuts. It's so cool to watch all the donuts slowly rolling along the conveyor belt and getting covered in the glaze mix!

@moffittjc You should! Even a couple dozen of the Original Glazed would certainly go fast on here... Down here they're having some kind of promotion for a double dozen of Original Glazed to celebrate their 80th birthday... Yeah, they've been around since 1937...

@sishy7 Well, since you only offered a donut to the first dozen responders, and I'll already saw 25 responders before I commented, I figured that you had already given away all your donuts. But that's okay, I live close enough where I can walk to Krispy Kreme and get myself a donut. Hey, maybe one of these days I'll buy a couple dozen donuts and share with everyone on myLot!

Dang it . . . I am way too late ! Is the Krispy Kreme right by you? Our local ones are long gone, but the closest one is in Burbank . . . so whenever we're out that way, that's one of our stops. The kids love watching the machines do their thing . . . they have fun looking for the donut rejects and see how far they make it down the conveyor belt before they get snatched away by the oversee-er. The kids could literally be there for hours. Last time I think we stayed for an hour and a half! Anyway, if I had made it on time, I would have gotten the Original Glazed. And my second choice would have been the Vanilla with the custard. I'm pretty boring when it comes to flavors - plain jane is fine with me. So which one did you take?

@sishy7 It's in the outer rim of the parking lot to the big outdoor shopping center that you can see from the 5 freeway . . . with those airplanes on the signs.

Hmmm... I rarely eat donuts of any kind, so it is a good thing I wasn't hoping for one of those twelve! LOL! Pretty would love to sit down with you and eat Krispy Kreme donuts, but I couldn't care less about them. (Every time we pass a Krispy Kreme shop she wants to stop. I always keep driving! LOL! I hope you enjoyed your donuts, Dearheart!

@sishy7 Yeah, that is not very likely to happen! I do stop when she wants to go get something from Starbucks! (She doesn't even drink coffee!) I have gotten into the habit of collecting all my spare change (My dad gave me a plastic jar with a coin slot he cut into the lid not long before he passed away. I still collect my change in it. Full it holds about $15 in change.) and putting it onto a Starbucks card for her... she should be happy I bother to do that! LOL!
