Trip to a different doctor....

Some days I just don't want to get out of bed. And I guess that's normal for most of us. Problem for me is that I haven't wanted to get out of bed for too many days now and it took a discussion with my niece to realize that my problem is not going away by itself and I need to get myself to my doctor. Today was a crazy day for my niece. One of her cats needed vaccines today, so she went off to the vet. She brought along photos of her 1 year old cat who suddenly has lines going across her face. The vet had my niece go back home, grab that cat and bring her in, as well. They did scrapings and they think it's allergy related. She got a shot and some other medication and has to go back in two weeks to see how things are going. Needless to say, my niece was exhausted. Tomorrow, she was planning to take me for my colonoscopy. However, she's been hearing about my ear problem long enough. She's a doctor and although she's a lung specialist, she began asking me some questions about my ear. She finally decided that it's more serious than I've been thinking and she insisted I call the office for my colonoscopy to reschedule and instead try to get an appointment with my primary care doc. And that's what I did. I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow around noon to have him check out my ear. I can't hear much out of it anymore and it's gotten "goopy", so I know there's an infection going on. As usual, I waited too long, thinking it would magically go away. Sometimes it's nice to have a doctor in the family. More bad news. The kitten still is not coming home to me tomorrow, as originally hoped. The vet still thinks he's not big enough to have his operation, so it looks like two more weeks of waiting. My niece is going to bring me to the shelter after we have some lunch tomorrow so I can play with the little guy. The good news about this is that all the cats there get treated for worms (just in case). The kitten my niece recently got from the shelter did have worms, so now that my kitten is going to be there at least another week, he will get another dose. I will be bringing him to a vet once I get him, but the more they can do at the shelter, the better I'll feel about things. I haven't felt like writing much lately. I've been sitting in silence most of the time and reading. I feel like I've had my TV blasting too much when it is on because I can't hear, and I don't want to be a bother to my neighbors. So that's it from here. Hopefully, the next time I post, I'll be feeling lots better! Claudia

Oh no. Maybe it's wax blockage? My grandmother had to do ear drops to get wax out then needed a hearing aid. I'm sorry about the kitten not going home yet .

The doc gave me cortisone drops and they are working perfectly! I was lucky. No wax! So at least that much is taken care of. Thanks, Courtney!

I hope your ear clears up quickly. My husband has an ear infection right now and he's miserable. His ear is draining bad and it's painful.

Your niece was right to insist to reschedule colonoscopy, because I also think that now it is important to check your hear. I am sorry you still have to wait for your kitten, but if the vet thinks he still is too small, is better to wait.

From what we can ascertain, the kitten has worms (as do most kittens in the shelters). The people at the shelter do give the kittens medication, but since they are all together, and many share a litter box, there isn't great hope of them healing up well. And because of that, all the food they eat just goes to the worms. So I'm trying to see if they will have him tested, give him medication and put him in isolation so he can begin to heal and gain some weight so he can come home and I can get him to a vet asap. Here's hoping!

Better you change the Doctor as early as possible. Did you try anything like sharp stick etc., against your ear? It is very dangerous then. Better use only cotton and not even buds.

My doctor gave me some cortisone drops for my ear and it's just fine now. He didn't see anything bad in there, so he listened to all of my symptoms and prescribed what he thought best. And it did the trick!

Hope you don't have to wait too long for the furry house guest to arrive. Still, sounds like he'll be fully fit once he arrives
