What items would you want to save?

Lately the news has reported many fires where people have had to flee their homes.
Let's say there was a fire or some other disaster and you could only take a few items out in time, what items are so important that you would want to save and why?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Added July 24: I think that we all agree that humans come first, animals come second and anything else, no matter how important or valuable, comes third and only if there is any time.
It might be helpful if really important items such as a wallet or cell phone could be in one bag which could be grabbed quickly and that we don't have to look for in an emergency where seconds can mean life or death.
Think ahead, be prepared!

Yes those are important items that should be saved if possible. I think our wallets and cell phones might be very important to save also.

@db20747 Yes, but we might need the cell phone to call our family and friends to see how they are and let them know how and where we are.

Your purse has a lot of valuable items (cards) that would take some time to replace so it's good to grab that. I have mine in my wallet and before I go to bed I put everything in a knapsack which I can grab quickly.

I have gone thru 3 fires in our house, I grab my external hard drive (has all my digital pictures on it), my purse, photo albums, laptop and daughters tablet, all those have our pictures on them. Id also grab the one creamer because my Gramma gave it to me and it has been handed down from a few generations.

@1hopefulman My daughters stereo system, she had just got a job (she was 16) and she saved for it and it was the first thing she ever bought like that. I felt so bad for her.

That's a good list. I've never had a fire in my life. Did you lose anything that you wish you could have saved?

If there's a fire I really can't think of something that I would run and grab to make sure it was saved. But if I know my husband, he'll think of something!

Yes, of course family and pets are the most important but I was thinking about what non-living items would be important to save.
I would take: my wallet, my cell phone, my I-pad, some important papers (will, bank information), and my photo albums.

@CookieMonster46 Yes, much would depend on the time we have. In my I-pad I have quite a few pictures that I have not saved anywhere else.

@DianneN Yes, photos are hard to replace and some jewelry might have sentimental values that cannot be replaced just by something similar.

@1hopefulman Many, many photo albums, our hard drive with photos, and all my jewelry. The rest is replaceable.

Lives come first but if I have time I would also want to grab my wallet, my cell phone, my I-pad, some important papers (will, bank information), and my photo albums.

There might be an emergency like a fire where we would have to leave quickly and after family and pets if there is time I would grab my wallet, my cell phone, my I-pad, some important papers (will, bank information), and my photo albums. Others things can be replaced by insurance which I have.

@1hopefulman I will do the first thing and the second option will be done after. But I still go and save my immediate family.

That's great that you have everything you would want to save in one handbag that you could quickly grab. Before I go to bed I should do that too, make sure that everything really important is in one bag.

Very true, it's good to think ahead and remember that life is what is really important in an emergency.

Good reminder.. I should have the most important photos, and if possible the documents, like credit cards etc.. Most can be replaced, but the old photos have to be converted to digital form..
My laptop could be good to have, as it has so much info and my Bible study literature, but it can also be replaced if necessary..
Saving my life and other's should have the first priiority, and yes, only God can replace it if I lose it..

@1hopefulman - I usually have some extra food, and in case of emergency.. Neolife shake and bars can be handy, as they can replace a whole meal..

Let's say there is an urgent situation and we have to leave our house quickly, are the important things we need in one place so that we can quickly grab them and run? Do we have enough provisions for a couple of days if we need to remain in our house for a few days? We know that difficult days are ahead of us, are we ready?

I would definitely take my cat, her litter box, her food, things I need for me and some clothes and can't remember what else. We have lots of fires here in the summertime in Israel. I remember where I lived before there were always fires in the summer and it was very scary.

Where I used to live the fire was very close to my building, but, the others were not close but just the fact of them makes me very sad.

I think it is good that when we go to bed we put all important things in a knapsack ready to grab if we have to run out suddenly because of a fire or something else. What do you think about that?

The first thing that I would grab is my wallet and my phone coz their next to me always. Next is family member and last is my folder of important document. That one I always keep it in a place of easy access in cases such as these, can grab it immediately.

@1hopefulman actually the concept was not mine, it was a friend of mine who taught me to do that.
