Grrrrrrr.I know that a lot of people have a knee jerk response that all people in their eighties and nineties are senile. Gr thrris is not true A lot of us older people still have clear well workng brains. Some male care taker' waltzed in here and told me it was breakfast tiime. No kildding. I told him I had already ate my breakfast His response:"Are you sure?:"" Ome original post and graphiuc by P Hatket commyrighted 2017

My youngest daughter, after this last vacation with her, told me I was "frail" Of course I donĀ“t run. Of course, as my knees hurt, I am slow at stairs. I have to go to the knee doctor now that the oncologist has pronounced me in complete remission. I might have to need some help. But she has a lot more emotional problems than the ones I have. And guess who is the strong one that cuddles? BTW, I think that this answer will make my first post of the day, Patsie.

I have known more 40 year olds who are senile than a lot of 80 and 90 year olds. It is a stereotype that the brain fades as people get older. And it does but it doesn't make people a complete vegetable that they cannot remember if they just had breakfast or forget how to use the restroom. It is rude, but I guess that is how some people are. You are still kicking it and still so amazing!

Often the young get confuzed, maybe ask him if he's still texting while walking, so far more accidents are being catalogued of young people hitting poles or other people because they're constantly texting while walking.

You give me hope Patsie that I have nothing to fear as dementia, and to how to prevent it, is a hot topic. Yeah, it is the attitude that decides as I find younger people losing their mojo faster than the old - siva

People can be so annoying sometimes. I would think you know if you had breakfast. Unfortunately, people make foolish assumptions all the time. Don't let it spoil your day!

They say ''ignorance is bliss'' and in this case, the caretaker proved how true that is my Grandmother lived to the ripe old age of 96 and was still making her own pasta from scratch and was as sharp as any 20 year old.

That is kind of a 'patronizing' way of putting it, but it IS conceivable that the 'breakfast this morning' that you remember is really just your memory of "breakfast some other morning." (Kinda like 'remembering to lock the door when you leave the house' ... you have a picture in your head of "locking the door," and your brain just goes to 'that picture' when you ask it whether you locked the door or not---'that picture,' whether it was from "today" or "some other day.") i guess that's what the care-taker was asking when he said "Are you sure?"---not 'did you really eat breakfast? (Let's see that Happy Plate! goo-goo ga-ga! )" but rather 'was that today?'
