Did you manage to get a tan this summer?

Some people never go in the sun, others never want to be without a tan. I am somewhere in between. Honestly, I would go in the sun a bit more if there weren't so many bugs around here. We all know how I feel about them! I usually get golden brown every summer..but I would like a bit more of a tan. I wear strong sunscreen..so I feel pretty safe. Do you tan or stay out of the sun?

I didn't even try this year, I get bored of sunbathing and I didn't go to the beach. However tanning can make your skin age faster, so I'd rather be pale. I'm into the goth fashion, so I don't care about the common beauty standards.

It can..but I like the way tans look..They look healthy even if they aren't great for your skin overall.

@sabtraversa Yes, unless you go to a tanning salon..but they are expensive..and people who do it too much can suffer health effects..Just do as you wish...bottom line..

@snowy22315 Yes, I'd rather look sick then. It would make me look healthy and slimmer/more toned, but that's a lot of effort for something that disappears in less than a month when the colder season comes, so not really worth it.

I haven't had a real sunburn for years..I did get a little one when I was on my raft..and in the same position for an hour or so, but it didn't hurt just turned a bit red.

I may tan a little bit, but not very much. My kids tan a lot better than I do. At least, I do have a little bit of one.

Yes, even though my skin tone has changed a bit..I am fair skinned so it takes a bit of work to get one..it isn't a natural occurence.

@snowy22315 On the other hand so many Asians and Hispanics are born with perfect tan and they waste it by bleaching or bathing in papaya soaps.

I got my seasonal tan. Although I try to stay out of the sun during it's peak hours in the afternoon. I also now use SPF 50 lotion.

It is different here. We try to avoid the suntan and therefore we will use sunscreen when we go to swim.

Ohh Ok..Well some here are like that too, if they want to protect their skin..In fact everyone wears sunscreen when they go to the beach or are in the sun for extended periods.

I do not tan, I am very fair-skinned, at most I get a little bit of golden color, but I do not tan. I stay in the sun the same time as my husband, he tans a lot, I stay pale.

I am part cajun and as soon as the air turns warm I start to tan. Right now I am extremely tan and I don't really try - it just happens.
