Living in a motel

I've been living in a motel with 4 of my kids for 8 days now. It is in a bad part of town, and it wasn't left the cleanest, but it looks like a little one bedroom apartment.. It has a full kitchen, small dining room table, living space and a bedroom and bathroom. I was really surprised. Like I said, it wasn't very clean, so I went out and bought a few cleaning supplies at the Dollar Tree. It only had one bed, so I brought in a queen size blow up mattress that I used to sleep on at the house. I walk with the little ones a lot. My stroller has a broken strap for the littlest one, and I found another one similar to mine across the straps for $15! It has less cup holders, but the straps work! lol I'm trying. I have cried a lot. I talked to my husband. We fought. We made up. We talked. I love him more than anything. I would hate to give up on our marriage. This is so hard.

The good thing is there sounds to be room in the hotel, i stayed at one with a full kitchen before and it's a blessing being able to cook so you don't have to spend more. The important thing is even though it may be hard and not ideal, you have provided your kids with a place to stay a roof over their head and took care of them, that makes you a good mom. I hope it all gets better and easier

It does not sound that easy. Try to remember that living in any place that has a roof and a door is better than being on the street. Praying that things get better in a big hurry.

There comes a time when we all have to stand up for ourselves especially when you have children. I went through it but I only had 2 children to deal with. Live can be hard at times, but don't compromise on yourself or your kids. Hope everything works out for you.

It doesn't sound like the ideal situation, but sometimes you just have to make things work. I do hope that things work out for you.

I agree with my friend Cait. It may be hard and not ideal, but least you have made a roof over your heads, and care about making sure they're in a clean place and have a safe stroller to sit in. I hope things work out for you, whether it be by continuing the marriage or not.

I am sorry to hear this Colene. Stay strong dear heart and good Mom you are. Apply for every single thing you can get, including housing and see if there are any more permanent place like shelters or what have you if you can..womens shelters or? If it is a good thing I hope you and husband can work this out dear friend. DonĀ“t give up and stay strong!! I had lived in motels too and shelters. Good you have the kitchen at least.

You sound determined to make it work, and I hope that it does. Are there any womens shelters that can help steer you towards a safe place for you and your children to live on a more permanent basis?
