Sweet potato is my favourite in any form. I even just boil it and have it for breakfast. It certainly does not come under the category of exotic food but it has amazing health properties. Here is a link that talks about it. What did you have for breakfast?
Find out about the potential health benefits of sweet potatoes including a protective role against prostate cancer, promoting fertility, boosting immunity and supporting vision.

I have had brown sugar on my sweet potato, but to me I like it just plain. I bake it, and that's it. However, I haven't had one in awhile.

@GardenGerty Eating it plain with a bit of salt while boiling it, tastes quite good specially when one has no time to prepare breakfast.

We slice it and deep fry it by dipping in gram flour batter. We also make a dish by cutting it into pieces, boiling it and adding coconut, jaggery and cardamom powder.

@averygirl72 Cardamom is a flavour. Cardamom grows this part of the world but not in my garden. Jaggery is made from sugarcane juice and it is available in clumps. It has a nice colour - golden.

For breakfast I had yogurt and berries, and cinnamon waffles with peanut butter. I do really like sweet potatoes, though and hope to have a crop.

I did not know you had plans to grow sweet potatoes. I have had a bit of success but these days the mongoose gets at it. Just yesterday I got my gardener to plant it on a raised be. I believe even leaves are eaten. Have eaten leaves?

Sweet potato is very common here. But I am not very fond of it. I prefer to eat potatoes much more. I like to bake the sweet potatoes because they not only smell great, but also taste well. Sometimes we will also use the sweet potatoes to make a dessert.

I used to and still make sweet potatoes this way for my kids (they love it). Peel and cut them up like fries . . . then put olive oil and ginger powder on them . . . bake until soft (about 20 minutes or so). It's naturally sweet and filling!
