But next I laundered my wallet with my jeans!

At the time I wrote about my (accomplished) plan to mow my lawn in the light rain this morning, I did not know that I had created a new problem. Because I needed to drive to the gas station to buy gasoline for the mower, I had my wallet in my pocket. As soon as I was through mowing, I came in and Anne had a yard clothes load ready to start. Now I never have my wallet in my pocket when I mow, so I got out of those wet jeans, through them and my other clothes in and started it. Right, my wallet got washed, with my driver's license, photos, credit cards, insurance cards and a few (unharmed dollars). When I started looking for my wallet, I had a sinking feeling and looked in the washer. Two credit cards broke (must have been brittle) and another was damaged. I am not sure about the rest of the stuff since I am letting it dry out, but getting new cards ordered only took three phone calls and about 15 minutes. It has been an interesting day and now I need a new wallet.

Hope you don't have to replace your drivers license as that would be a pain. Glad the rest was easy and I can't say that I haven't done something as silly as this too.

The license was plastic so it is okay, I think. My new address was glued on by DMV and it came off but Anne glued it back on. My new wallet seems so orderly!

Well, James, now I know what to get you for Christmas! A nice new wallet. Do you prefer brown leather, black leather, or some other material?

@JamesHxstatic Or I could have gotten you one of those duct tape wallets, but I don't think that would wash very well! haha

Darn, Jeff, I needed one sooner than that, so Macy's came through with one of their eternal sales, brown leather. Maybe I should have gotten fabric? It would wash better.

Been there, done that. However, when I started the wash machine there was a loud clunking noise inside so I stopped it and looked in. There was my wallet soaking wet. It did not ruin any cards (like my debit card) and my wallet is a good leather wallet so it didn't ruin it either. It did ruin some business cards I had in my wallet, though.

The wallet dried out well, and I may use it some more. I am glad to hear I am not the only one.

In the 80's, I used to wash my wallet all the time. Can't even tell you how much I spent replacing my driver's license.

Thanks Scott, I feel better already. Was there something about the 80s that caused that?

@JamesHxstatic yeah. Must have been a habit for you already to just throw your clothes in the washer without checking its pockets for contents.

I check my pockets before putting the clothes inside the washing machine but occasionally when in a hurry we tend to overlook. More often it is the coins and the notes - siva
