the water bill arrived this week and it shows i still have overpayment. yay! just as i estimated, my overpayment last august covered 2 months in advance. and there's still extra amount to cover probably 1/3 of next month's bill. that's why i say 'still no water bill' - still no water bill to pay due to overpayment. yes! 1. how is your water meter read? in the past, the bill was printed at the water company's office and there were a delivery person. now the meter reader carries a handheld device. he goes to the water meter in front of the house, and it prints out the bill. 2. how do you prefer to receive your bills - by phone/text, email/online, or mail/delivered? i still prefer receiving a printed bill. i still prefer calling and talking to a person to ask question and understand the issue.

oh wow, that just so good not worrying the water bill. You can do it again next time We still have no water supply in our place and we mainly depend on the electric water pump or through deep well, and those water refilling stations who are so many in our place.

i'm glad there's a deep well. because with the electric water pump, when there's a brownout, you don't have water supply, too, right?

There is a wi-fi counter, it is monitored constantly, but we receive the invoice twice a year only. Water is not expensive here. They send the invoice by snail mail in printed form.

It is great that you have some reserve. I have done that before with our water, electric and our phone/internet bills. It feels good not to have to pay a bill for a month or so. I prefer a printed bill and I will usually call in to pay the bill via the automated service.

I don't know how it's "read" . . . but a meter guy comes around every month to read the meter at the side of the house . . . and then we get the bill via mail (or online). Hubby takes care of the bills - he'd rather pay online so he doesn't have to deal with any buried paperwork.

One thing nice with " Maynilad water" is they carry over over your excess payment and deduct to the next bill, so next payment is lighter, it also takes 2 months of non-payment before they serve you a disconnection notice.

@hereandthere Meralco sucks lol, their electricity is overpriced. Pldt also sucks because they have poor customer service, they will disconnect you in one day but would take 3 days to a week to repair, I lost a lot of online earnings when my internet went down.

i usually pay after the due date but before the next reading date. but somehow, last august i got confused and decided to just pay everything so i can restart on a clean slate. you're right about meralco. they don't let you round off the bill, and they're much stricter with disconnection. however, when we had an issue a few years back and i went to their office, they were quite lenient maybe because they saw we have a relatively good track record.

@hereandthere here in Germany? The water company gets the payment of our water bill automatically from our bank account. We don't receive a bill but it showed up in our bank account the money they get. The water usage for how many persons in a household will be calculated what you will pay for the whole year, monthly or quarterly. If you have used much water for the whole year, you will receive a notice that you should pay more. If you have used lesser than what you have paid monthly or quarterly, you will be refunded.

They read our water meter every once a month and then that's when the bill comes in. I prefer to receive our meal by the printed one, it's easy that way for me.

It is the best feeling when you are ahead with the payment of a bill. I live in a gated community and the water bill is divided between all the units. We receive a printed statement saying what is owed. I prefer that.

divided equally regardless of number of people and usage?

@bluesa that would be frustrating, especially if you will be away for a while. but then, i gues it's balanced by the times you have guests also.

Oh you overpaid! That's why they did not send you new bills. In our place, the meter reader has that gadget that prints the amount of water used and the cost to be paid is printed too.

I have no clue how our water usage is measured. Some said the water people just estimates based on past records. The bill emailed to us then direct debit later.

@hereandthere It is done that way on the payslip. Because the place where they work has an estate where the workers live. So the expenses like rent and waterbill are automatically deducted from the payslip

2. There was a bit of a problem here with companies first a couple and then more were charging people for printed bills. It was much but the practice has stopped. They can charge you for underpayment but not for sending you a printed bill. I like it on paper too. That is like sending someone a bill for their bill making and if someone doesn't pay it another bill with the previous bill amount added on ( plus service charge) and is a very sneaky way to make money.

our bills are updated and they come before the 15th of each month. i still don't understand how the bills are printed. the 'waterman' pushes some numbers in his "cellphone look alike", then suddenly, a machine in his belt gives out the receipt. hahaha!
