It's Been A Tough Week

It's all medical and don't want to go into detail. Last Monday I went to see a doctor that was a referral. I thought it would just be a consult but turned into a biopsy procedure. I am not completely healed from that and talked to the doctor this morning. He said it should be healed by now but to give it another couple of days. I've also had a very bad cough... a little bit of sinus congestion, but mostly a cough. I haven't slept well the last 3 nights because of the coughing. At church on Saturday I kept my hands to myself just nodding during the "sign of peace" instead of shaking hands. Afterwards an older gentleman leaned over and asked me how long I had had the cough (obviously I was coughing during mass), because, he said, his wife had it for 3 weeks. Not encouraging! This is the third time I've been sick this year and I NEVER get sick because I take such care not to. This is totally exhausting for me and adds to my fibro pain as well. I'm almost out of sleeping medication and didn't realize there were no repeats on it. As usual, the pharmacy sent a fax and the doctor's office didn't get it so the pharmacy had to fax it again. I literally have one night's medication left... and of course the doctor's office had to remind me I would be charged $20 for the faxed prescription. Dang! Why didn't the doctor just give me enough refills to begin with? Yesterday was my mother's 93rd birthday. Fortunately I managed the 2 hour cake and coffee clatch without coughing too much. But I can't guarantee no one else will get sick. But I couldn't miss a birthday that will be one of the last few she will have... or not. My birthday is in one week. Though nothing is planned, I hope I am feeling better. I'm really very exhausted. I do have to get some groceries today. I'll get in the shower and hope I get rejuvenated... but I'm still coughing.

That is just one terrible week. Yes, the Doctors are very strict with prescribing sleep meds. Probably due to the serious side effects. Being in poor health is such a depressing feeling as at times I have experienced my own health issues. The stress does not help either. I guess if not for sadness we happiness would not be as appreciated. Hope things get better soon

@dgobucks226 I had my first live stream last night since getting my new internet provider. The quality is much better... so much that people hung around for a long time and I spent about 4 hours laughing. My face hurt. It felt good to have such a good time.

When my daughter was in school, can't remember whether it was high school or grade school... I think high school, her teacher told her she had a laughing sickness. I said it was better that she was laughing than the other way around. (this to my daughter not her teacher)

@patgalca It takes more facial muscles to frown than smile. Who needs the extra wrinkles, lol. But seriously, attitude is so important in life. Winston Churchill, had a wise saying about attitude. Hope you like it!

They charged you 20 bucks for a faxed request? I thought all of that was free in Canada. I hope your birthday is a good one; you deserve it.

It's the doctor's own fee. I have gotten it scratched once when I told the secretary that the doctor told me to call if another medication didn't work for me. I'm sure not all doctors charge this but changing doctors is not an option where a) doctors are hard to come by and b) getting one that believes in fibromyalgia. If I came in for an appointment to get a prescription than the appointment would be charged to the government. In their mind they are losing money when responding by fax. I called the doctor who did the biopsy and the secretary transferred me to the doctor to talk to him. My family doctor would never talk on the phone with a patient. Every doctor has a right to run their business in their own way.

@patgalca That's pretty interesting. But I know what you mean about finding a doctor that believes in fibromyalgia.

@dodo19 Definitely feeling better... slept through the night with no coughing last night. Still sounding hoarse and coughing, but no out of control coughing now. Thankfully.

Are you taking anything for the cough itself. Try drosera its a herb that is very good for persistent coughs. Hope it gets better and sounds more like bronchitis to me as I have had that before also. Another is to make an infusion of cranberry tea and steep it for ten minutes and then add the best honey you can to it and drink it as slow as you can. It worked for me with my eldest that had me up most of the night till I made it and gave it to him. He scoffed and said it would not work but it did and I for one got back to sleep thank goodness.

Poor baby... get well soon. One church I went to, instead of shaking hands, they flashed the peace sign... didn't quite do it for me.

We flash the peace sign when we are acknowledging someone from a distance. I just kept my hands clenched together and bowed. Some of those I sit with all the time seemed offended. They would have been more offended had they gotten sick.

Not keeping that busy really. But thanks. I feel like I am on the road to recovery with the cough. Just wish my biopsy would heal.
