I wanna be a saint. Laugh all you want.

It is a life's goal. I want to be a saint. Whenever I tell this to family and friends, even acquaintances, they are dumbfounded. They stare at me, trying to think how to tell me that I will fail on that goal. But I wanna be one. Like St. Francis who called nature brother sun and sister moon. Crazy stuff like that makes one a little loose on the head. No matter, I'd like to fly with the eagles and run with the deer. Saints are an interesting lot. Joseph of Cupertino flew and hovered the grounds while meditating. Anthony of Padua had a rodent soup. Yuck. Maria Goretti allowed her self to be stabbed. Chubby Thomas of Aquinas escaped through a small window. Oh boy, I did pray for a stigmata decades ago. God gave me neuropathy. Ha ha. God's was of telling me I have to work more for the sainthood. If neuropathy is punishing for me, how could I endure the grievous conditions saints went through. Oh well, the goal remains.

@eileenleyva One day, God's will will also take place on earth. I pray for that very day.

@eileenleyva Yes, there is still time to repent and turn away from bad but we don't know how long God's patience will last and so there is no time to delay.

I encourage every one to have the same dream. It is why we live for. One day, when we are in heaven, and we are already saints, we can continue helping those on earth.

Interesting - Just keep praying that you find out God's will for you,, The Bible shows that we can live and see when he takes away all evil from the earth and makes the earth a peaceful, wonderful place to live.. See Daniel chapter 2 that shows the change is very near.. "44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever."
Daniel 2:1-49—Navigate by chapter and verse in the King James Version of the Bible.

I already know. God wants me to spread His Good News. I am doing my best to proclaim the Gospel to every man. As you do, I see. Thank you for reminding me of Daniel. I love this prophet very much. He served four earthly kings, advised them well, all for the greater glory of our God. Of course Jesus our Lord spoke extensively about God's kingdom. I still have to weigh which one is my favorite. Ha ha

@buenavida Thank you very much. Reading the stories in the Bible had been a favorite activity since I was a child. And yes, I do tell every one to read the Bible from cover to cover at least once in their lifetime. People do not respond very well. But when I started narrating the stories in Genesis to the orphans, I learned later that they continued reading the succeeding stories on their own volition. Yay., I am happy.

Being a Saint is Easy. It's recognition that's hard. Knowing that a true Saint wants no Glory or Recognition for themselves, do you still want to be a Saint?? Give Unconditional Love to everyone you encounter in life. It's not all that easy. Unconditional Love always does what is Best for the other. It's not giving them just what they want. If you can wantingly and willingly do this, you might just be surprised at the reward that returns to you.

Nope, no recognition whatsoever came to mind. The desire sprung from the admirable character traits of Francis of Assisi, Anthony of Padua, Padre Pio. It's the certain sacrifice, depriving one's self for the good of another. It's the purity of Claire of Assisi, Maria Goretti, Philomena, the courage of Joan of Arc, the innocence of Joseph of Cupertino, of Bernadette, the faith of Peter and Paul, the enduring love of John the Beloved. I prayed for stigmata before. I was given neuropathy. Ha ha. God must have thought me silly. It's being in the company of the personages that I want to belong, even if only I could take a peep at God, I know He loves me already.

Keep that dream living inside you. That alone is saintly. Eventually our heart will speak volumes.

Wow, Bluedoll, that's such a beautiful comment. It is like me feeling what Peter must have felt when our Lord told him, by way of response to Peter's 'You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.' that God manifested that response of faith on Peter. Thank you very much. Your comment already speak volumes. God blessed you with that pure heart that presuppose wisdom and understanding. God's blessing is enough. But from an older person affirming: God bless you all the more, Bluedoll.

Why, thank you very much. Saint Eileen sounds nice, doesn't it? Cristy, I do my best to know about the lives of the saints. I have watched The Reluctant Saint so many times. I still laugh. And the more I fall in love with Joseph. He is the patron saint for autistic children because he is one. Yet, he became a priest, a Franciscan priest. And a saint, of course. As far as I understand the lives of the saints, one trait that they all share is the unconditional love for God. From that springs, courage and wisdom, strength, formidable faith. Loving God is so easy. For He is so good and perfect.

@eileenleyva Do you have plans of becoming a nun? Or do you want to enter the convent? I think Sister Eileen or Mother Superior Eileen is better...

@magallon I am, as situations in life dictates, am much of a recluse now. I have lived my life of service. I still visit the deprived and lend a helping hand when duty calls but age does not permit an excessive activity. Sigh. I want to put up my own library/cafe, so I could continue educating. I was a teacher, too. I didn't hear a calling.

You are one interesting person the fact that you think like that is already a blessing from the heavens. Well to me that is not impossible to happened. You just look at the other saints, before they were just plain people, but because of their in-compared faith and love, their devotion to god and to help people, they become saints... So I must say, keep it up, you're in the right path

Thank you very much. Such great understanding you have there yourself. You saw so quickly the reason for wanting. And you interpreted the reason logically. I couldn't have explained that better. The calling is for every one. I give you my blessings. Who knows, sainthood might be for you, too.

Except gor St. Ignatius of Loyola who consulted the books, I think, almost all the saints simply went about their ordinary lives. St. Francis was a dashing young soldier when he was called. They thought him mad for abandoning his duty, and went to the fields and watched the fields filled with flowers, said hello to the birds and the bees, smelled the air, and discovered God. He made a complete turnaround from the trappings of a rich kid, and became a pauper serving the Lord.

Sometimes I want to be a saint too but I think it's boring for some. I can be a nun and live a simple life

A nun's life never runs out of exciting things to marvel about. Once, I got a peek at the Carmelites in their secluded monastery. I was collecting books and they were giving away their old collection to make way for a new library. They were surprised to see me because civilians are not allowed in the premises, They couldn't carry all the books, I had to help. I started a conversation, told them about the magic of cellphones. They were delighted to have their picture taken. Of course I sworn never to upload the pictures. Ha ha. They were so happy inside. Their garden is like a grove. They commune with God all the time. St. Paul sisters are media nuns. Benedictine sisters are active in hospitals and communities. Ask around, you might find your corner of the sky somewhere soon.

You're blessed you didn't get tested just like the others did. Some of them even experience terrible exorcism. I think what matters is you spread gods word, be good christian and hope to GOD he'd allow you to in the gates in heaven. What's the point of being a saint if they don't really follow you anyways. we already have so many saint role models and yet here we are sinners as usual.

Had my shares of suffering and sacrifices, too, knight. Breezed through the trials wounded and scarred, literally. I don't hide it. I wear it with pride. Life is a wonderful blessing. My daughter asked me how I'm gonna be saint this morning. I said that perhaps my only recourse is martyrdom. Ha ha. We will see.
