The Tale of Milk and a Microwave
November 12, 2017 3:32pm CST
This morning I wanted to sleep a little longer. Try as I may, it was not meant to be. I woke at 5:30 and tried to go back to sleep without success. The alarm was set for 6:30 so I had another hour before I had to be up. I got out of bed and headed to the kitchen to make my breakfast. First stop, the coffee maker. Second, make a bowl of oatmeal in the microwave. I took the milk and half and half out of the refrigerator and placed both on the counter. My granddaughter woke early too and came to the kitchen where she lay on the floor with the cat. Both were refusing to get out of my way. I feared that I would step or trip over them. I was still not completely awake and was weary from lack of sleep. Kept asking both to move out of the kitchen. Neither moved. The microwave beeped alerting me that my breakfast was done. I removed the bowl, poured a little milk into it, placed it on opposite counter and proceeded to try to put the gallon carton of milk (almost empty at this point) into the microwave. Took me 2 tries to realize what the heck I was trying to do. Yeah, very blonde moment right there. Moral of the story, don't try to make breakfast when you are half asleep. Your milk may give you a hard time. Have you ever put something in a place where it isn't supposed to go?

@marlina I've also added water...put the filter in the basket and neglected to add the coffee grounds. That was so disappointing when I walked into the kitchen to find the carafe full of hot water instead of freshly brewed coffee.

When I was a teen my mom couldn't find the instant coffee. We looked everywhere and finally found it in the fridge. And my gal pal is constantly misplacing things, which I've found for her in unusual places, but can't think of anything specific right now.
