My First Wall Pocket

I happened across an antique store when we were in Upstate New York that was having a sale on a whole case of wall pockets. I have never owned a wall pocket before but I do think they might even be something worth collecting since they are affordable and come in such a great variety of designs. Most of the major pottery firms have their own versions even some of the most expensive and exclusive. The one I actually chose for my first is unmarked so it is not from a famous potter but it is very pretty and I like it very much. Whether it will be the start of a collection remains to be seen but for now, I own one wall pocket.

Isn't it basically just a vase?

It is a vase made to hang on the wall, most of them could not stand up on their own.

A wall pocket is basically a vase in a variety of shapes that hangs on the wall and you can put flowers in it.

It is a vase that goes on the wall and can hold flowers. I am not sure why it is called a wall pocket but that is the real name.

Yes, they really are very common and come in an almost endless variety. I guess they were more popular 50 years ago than today.

Since they are called "wall pockets" does that mean that they hang on the wall and have a hole in it to store items?

@BelleStarr They are pretty and I imagine that there are several different flowers to choose from as far as the looks on the outside of the wall pocket.
