Back to the Doctor Tomorrow

United States

Tomorrow (or rather, today, as it's now after midnight) I have yet another doctor appointment, this time with my primary doctor. This is a followup appointment to see how I'm doing on my new meds. I hope she can write me a new prescription, because I was instructed to double the dose after one week, and there were only enough to last a month at the lower dose, so I will run out a week early and not be able to refill it until the end of the month, since the pharmacy won't refill it until the designated date. I don't know what she was thinking. I have 11 refills left, but 30 pills taken two at a time is only enough to last 2 weeks out of the month, and this is not a medication I can just stop and restart like that. Anyway, hopefully that will get sorted out and she will just write me a prescription for 30 at the higher dose. And hopefully the pharmacy will fill it and my insurance will cover it. They are so weird anymore, but then I guess they have to be because so many people nowadays abuse their meds. Next week I only have one appointment, then I only have two scheduled for December (so far, anyway.) Still no word on my surgery date. I called the other day but got sent to the doctor office's voicemail. I left a message but they never called me back. I will try again later. Hopefully next year won't be so overwhelming with all these nonstop doctor appointments, especially since most of them end up being all-day events.

I hope you are going to have a good appointment and get the prescription you need. Doctors are such a pain.

@Srbageldog They never think to everything, we have to remind them all the time.

They really are. And I like this doctor. But, she should have thought about the fact that I would run out of my meds before I can get them refilled once I started doubling the dose.

I'm sure your schedule now is pretty hectic with all those appointments, hopefully next year will be much better for you. Hope they will confirm your surgery date soon, too.

Understanding insurance and the reasons behind their denying a necessary medication is a nightmare. I hope that they do cover the meds for you. Let's hope that you won't have so many appointments after the new year. I am hoping for calm for all of us! Big hugs to you lady.

Oh my word. I know what you are talking about. I'll look at my prescription and wonder why they wrote the stupid prescription that way if they weren't actually enough pills to take it that way. I really need to chill. I'm reliving my experiences by getting mad about yours. But I get it. They don't realize the consequences with insurance. They don't care.

It definitely causes us more stress when they do it that way. I'm sorry you've also experienced this! It's so frustrating when they make it more difficult for us to just take our medication. They probably don't care that the pharmacy (or insurance) won't fill it/pay for it.

I hate going to the doctor. Hopefully you get the pills you need. I have to go to the eye doctor tomorrow. I think my appointment won't be as bad as my doctor appointment.

Thank you. I hate going to the doctor too, even when I like the doctor I'm seeing. I hope your appointment goes well.

You should be attentive and prompt in taking medicines. Hope everything goes well with your surgery. I do not think it is necessary for you if everything is quite responsive to your system. I think that might be the reason for prescribing the meds for you.

The meds have nothing to do with the issue I am having surgery for.
