Just a Wee Bit Frustrated With Facebook

I recently opened a Facebook page for my woodworking efforts called MFCP Woodworking. I was told this would be a good way to promote my work. I sent out invites to quite a few of my friends and relatives and got back a healthy response in likes. Facebook encourages me to make regular posts there so that my friends will see them except a can't find anyone who is actually seeing the posts. I shared a Youtube video that I just posted on my page and then checked my feed - nothing. I messaged my son who is a follower of the page in question. He couldn't find it either. We shared it to Facebook as a regular post and one of my other friends finally saw it but nothing from the page I created. Why bother with a Facebook page, when you're better off just putting your posts up as regular posts? Anyway brief rant. Maybe I'm going off half-cocked and suddenly everyone will see the post. This is the Youtube video by the way.
Carved this as an experiment from a Speckled Alder stick. This was carved with a box cutter and refined with sandpaper. I really like the result. We did try ...

I have no idea at all why it didn't appear on your facebook page. I'm not a fan of facebook.

I'm beginning to like them less and less. They messaged me to say that if I pay two dollars up to 450 people will see it on their feed. If they just let my friends and family see it, 300 people would have it on their feed and that wouldn't cost me anything.

@toniganzon I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with them. I've done some successful promotional work for my cycling webzine in the past. Most of that was done on Facebook. They seem to want to wring some pennies out of small businesses now though.

Have you checked if you are publishing your posts so that they can be seen by everyone? Check your settings.

@LadyDuck I have every reason to believe it's intentional.

It's all set to public/everyone. My wife deleted her page because she ran into the same issue. I'll keep mine but I know I'll have to post it separately on my own timeline as well to do any good.

@koopharper This is a weird bug, I wonder if it is intentional.

I didn't realize it was the extra page you created that was hidden from view. Could it be you need to change something in the settings itself. Possibly the default is set to private and you need to change it? I do have a page I made years ago for my writing and my intention was that it be public, but I never thought to send out invites to people and therefore I never checked to see whether anyone else could see it too. Maybe I'll look at it another day this week and see what I see there. Or maybe I'll do it before church.Just checked it out and found I've not added to it since 2011. That may be because I don't think anyone else ever did see it, but I don't see a setting on my page. I need to do major updating to it and it now gives me the option to add myself as a member/author type thing which will then put a link to my main profile. *( I also didn't see any settings button). I figure I'll wait on that until after I've put new things/links from current writings on it.

My author's page and cycling webzine page seemed to get seen quite readily. I think Facebook has changed a few things. I have checked and everything is set to public. Right now I just post to my regular Facebook wall and then share it with my page. That seems to be easier for my friends and family to find.

@MarshaMusselman I was recommended to make one because it would give me more exposure. It must work for some people. My wife ended up deleting the page she set up for her artwork because no one was seeing it either. I'll hang with it for awhile but will make my initial posts to my regular wall and then share it to the page. Seem to have more people see it that way.

@koopharper If I ever get around to using mine again, I'll see if I have the same problems and maybe I can remember to share about it here. If no one can see your page anyway, then why have one? Is it mostly to have everything of the same thing all together?

I had to leave Facebook because they trumped up complaints against that my satire of their liberal Hollywood actors was "spam." and when I tried to get out the message of my blog work, no one seemed to care,

My sometimes politically incorrect sense of humour has led to issues as well. I have a long time comedy collection on Hubpages that has been labelled as not up to standards I'm guessing for that very reason. I think it's specifically the NWO conspiracy bit. Some people have no sense of humour.

@Deepizzaguy The funniest thing is the collection is called "My Misunderstood Sense of Humour" and somebody is obviously not getting it.

@koopharper I always tell them that is not my fault that I grew up in an era where television shows very funny without using racial slurs or cuss words.

Watch your video. You are a man of many talents. Are you a linguist? What do the Kanji characters mean? I also like the painting of the grazing cows hanging on the wall.

The painting is my wife's work but I do some work as well. The video was shot in her craft "studio" which is probably the only presentable looking place in our home. The katakana on the handle actually spells out my real life first name.

@koopharper _That explains the sewing machine which I thought a little bit out of place in a man's work studio unless of course you also sew.

@josie_ Actually I have been taught how to use a sewing machine but I know better than to use the one belonging to my wife.

Fiddled with that to try and get it to show on my own feed and it didn't make any difference. I will keep trying though.

Hoping that with time there will be a pay off for making and posting to that page.

I've never personally tried a "Facebook Page." I think one of our bands has one, but it doesn't yield much in the way of visits.

My last post there yielded nothing. Just messages from Facebook suggesting I spend money to boost it.

I have created a page and most of the responses are from Facebook, telling me how to promote (at a cost) my page to get more views. The page will be archived soon. No point promoting a business that will be relocating...better to have a fresh start at a new local.

I keep getting messages to spend money so more people will see my posts. I won't be giving a dime if my friends and family aren't even been shown my posts. Brandon was telling me I'd have to tag people to get anyone's attention. I'm trying to not be that annoying.

I use wordpress for my blog and it posts on a facebook page I created. Sometimes facebook becomes disconnected. See if maybe that's what happened.

The page I created is actually part of Facebook and I've heard other users make the same complaint. I don't use the share links from my website or Youtube anymore because I find that if I copy and paste the url I'm consistently getting more responses.

Maybe that's the good option, just putting this as a regular post.
