Hoping the Homeless Found a Place to go

This is where my mind goes when we get winter weather. I hope that all the homeless was able to find a place to stay warm. It worries me. It is so cold out right now. It is 14 degrees and it says with wind it feels like 0 degrees, so it is a little warmer then it was today. We really got hit and is suppose to continue for a few days.
I wish there was a way that we could home them, I get upset when I see all the empty buildings that sit there until they have to be torn down because they slowly decay. I went thru some of our blankets and told hubby if Shalette and I make it into Erie this Saturday I'm taking the extras and if I see any homeless I'm going to hand them out. That is the best I can do, wish there was more.
Do you have homeless in your area?

Winters are not coming first time, I know they will find anywhere to settle but there should be no homeless people at all. Everyone deserves a shelter, cloth and food to eat.

We have a local homeless shelter that is doing quite well. The director has been with the agency for about 2 years and is making strides with the shelter. To my knowledge, nobody is turned away.
I have to go through my blankets and such to see if I can donate any to them. They are always looking for supplies as well. Now that I think of it, I'll have to go to their site and see what they need.

@Ithink we are a small town and when they first started the homeless coalition here, many thought it was a joke. But, they are doing wonderful things here with the homeless. Many are families that were evicted from their residences for one reason or another.

these days in the USA I think there are homeless in every area. lots of other countries take care. but not here in what used to be a rich nation. yes you would think that people who have an old building would let them stay there.

There are a few, they are mainly downtown. I agree, empty buildings should be used for the homeless.

@Ithink The homeless here have moved to the city you see, where tourists are more accommodating and with deeper pockets I guess. Some homeless people even have with them very expensive dogs and with the most expensive cell phones plus designer clothing/footwear.

my classmate post that there was an order of sleeping bags for a homeless man that buyer met and the buyer. So sweet of the buyer.

In the U.K most people on the streets were destined to be there through addictions and the like but in America it seems just about anyone can end up homeless
