Weird Word Wednesday: Bibliophile

I love to read. I was a bibliophile when I was a child and young teen. But I always preferred fairly short books that I could finish in a day or two. I'm still that way. I never read long novels or anything like that. I don't have the patience for them. But I know some people who just devour them. They love reading so much that once they start a good book, it's hard for them to put it down until they're through. I have read two very long books. When I was in eighth grade, I had to read "Gone with the Wind" for school. It was hard to get through, but I still loved it! When my daughter was in eighth grade, she had to read "Frankenstein". I had always been curious about the original story, so I read it too. Phenomenal! Are you a bibliophile? Please share your thoughts/experiences about books and reading.

So you're more into the novella rather than the novel. I'll read anything that interests me no matter the length.

Thank you @irishidid. I do most of my reading on the internet now, usually non-fiction.

@BloggerDi Not a thing wrong with non-fiction. I haven't read anything in awhile and probably won't as I'm getting back into writing.

i happen to be one... When I die, I only hope heaven will be full of reference books as well as good novels for me to read . (I read Gone with the Wind, Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, all the books by Jane Austen, etc. I devour anything that seems good!)

Cool! I'm so curious about Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights, having heard of them for years. Maybe I'll have to try to read them. Or maybe I'll try to find movie versions of them, which probably aren't as good.

@BloggerDi With Jane Eyre, go for the 1983 one with Timothy Dalton & Zelah Clarke. Wuthering Heights, the old version with Laurence Olivier (1939) seems to be a good one from what I heard (I watched so many versions of this movies, now I can't remember what is what!). The novels are superb if you have time (had to do them for my year 10 English class).

I read books that catch my fancy. Length doesn't matter.

I always have one or two books and a magazine going, but read mostly before going to sleep at night. I read a lot of fairly long novels, like ones by John Le Carre. I love the New Yorker magazine, but the stories are so long that I can't read anything else before the next week's issue comes out.

Thank you @JamesHxstatic. I've always enjoyed magazines. I've been curious about the New Yorker but have never read its stories. Most mags that I've seen have short stories.

I am definitely a bibliophile. I love books, big ones, little ones, and size. I could read my life away.

@BloggerDi not really but it is an interesting thought. I used to tell my student that the more they read the more they know.

@saritflor I haven't read an actual book in a very long time. I'm kind of embarrassed to say that. For several years, I've been reading articles and watching videos about psychology (regarding personal and family issues). I've also been reading articles about blogging/writing and social media, to improve my skills.
