Items you want, but don't need & can't justify spending $ for, but will get anyway?

A little bit of a tongue twister. But does anyone ever come across this dilemma? There are some item(s) you want, but don't necessarily need and can't justify spending the money (though you could afford it but won't shell your money out for it) but will eventually purchase? This situation happens to me all the time. Currently on my list is a dash camera for the car. I will get it when I have enough Amazon gift cards that I receive from Crowdtap. Or, if I come across a better deal in stores. But that's one item on that list. What's on your list?

I don't think there is enough room here in the comments for me to tell you everything on my list . Oh man, there are tons of items I want (and do need ). Let me tell you something stupid. I have been without a kettle for a long time - even though we drink hot tea all the time. The last kettle I had to throw out, but I just never bothered to get another one . . . we've been boiling water in a small sauce pan all this time. I want a nice kettle, but I haven't looked into it . . . the pan is doing just fine. I don't want to pay for a disappointing kettle - so I want to take my time until I find the right one. My husband thinks I'm crazy .

@infatuatedbby Oohhh - thanks . . . I'll have to look up those kettles . . . I just can't make up my mind . I can be pretty picky when it comes to kitchen stuff . I've just done well without a kettle for so long - that's why I guess I haven't bothered .

@much2say If you shop at Costco (I think you do!) you can give it a go & don't like it, it is refundable. My sister likes hers & it warms up quickly. But I opt for Macy's because I had a coupon and I think I scored a good deal too. I don't remember how much but I sure did not pay $75. This is the one I have - I think mine is heavier than the Costco.

Hahaha my list is all in my head But the dash camera is more on my fiancés list than mine haha, so I told him when I have Amazon gift cards we could get it. Girl, you don't have a kettle? Well I did buy one from Macy's I think Martha Stewart brand or no... Kitchen Aid! It's kinda heavy. I gave it to my parents'. Now I use a Bella Electric Kettle. It heats up water quickly. My mom uses a kettle or sometimes boils water over the stove too. My sister has the Electric Kettle from Costco! It's like $20.

That would be a lovely treat - to go on a vacation. That would involve a little bit of budgeting & saving. :)

Thankfully, I have this no...first this is the target..kinda approach. I need to invest before 31st March something, more precisely before 25th March. And the amount is not small. So no purchases for you vanny is what my brain keeps on saying. That too I would be taking an overdraft, so I can possibly feel relieved only around December. Not completely, some.

@infatuatedbby Not really...you see, I would be free from it only in 2020 March or April. That is long way off. In between there might come a new investment opportunity. I have also to visit a couple of old age homes out here, find out rates, experience the environment, so depending upon how much we spend, that will can go to end of 2020. How much I need in the old age homes will dictate how I plan my finances. I am preparing for a situation in which I might kick the bucket before dad. Dad is 83 and a half, and might need to be provided for - for 20 years from now. I wouldn't like his folks to be around him as they are physically abusive. If I survive him, that money remains for 10 odd years of my life. That is also ok. But I need to make arrangements for bedridden person, just in case he needs that kind of help.

@vandana7 You are very kind and definitely thinking about the future holds and being a provider for your father. I love that. I will have to strive and do some investing to help my parents' as well. Good luck to all your investments! Don't forget to shower yourself with what you want at times too!

I just bought a barbecue grill that I definitely didn't need (I don't cook, remember!), and really don't have a place to store it. But it was regularly priced $499, and on clearance for $99. I couldn't pass up the opportunity for savings like that. I guess it's time I learned how to cook! lol The other thing that is on my list but I definitely don't need is a 1/2-in cordless impact wrench. I already have a 3/8-in cordless impact wrench which will handle anything I use it for, but for some reason I have stuck in my head that I need the 1/2-inch one as well. Being that they are over $200, I am not rushing out to buy one, but will get one if I ever come across a good sale on one.

Tehehe, yes I remember you told me about the sweet grill you scored! And I would be buying myself a grill (though I don't know how to cook period) if I managed to find a Grill for $99 or under. With a hefty original price like that, hehe. I do have my eye out for a stainless steel grill for my dad though - he's particular in styles but definitely not a rush. Something with guys and tools. My fiancé always buys more tools to add to his collection, yet we hardly use any tools?! What do you use tools on?

@moffittjc You are such a sweet neighbor! I mean there are knick knacks to fix but I don't think he needs more tools lol. Summer is coming up you need a deck for your grill!!

@infatuatedbby I like to fix things, and to do odds and ends projects around the house, or helping neighbors. I'm thinking about building a new deck right off my back patio, you know...since I have the new BBQ grill that I need to start using! lol

These days I think twice about purchasing something, unless it's really needed. Except for that candies I bought for the fiesta, that was totally unnecessary.

Yes, it happens that there are little things I would like, but I do not really need, so I wait to buy until I have a serious discount or I can ask to have them as a gift.

My next phone. This one is mostly fine, but I want the newer one that is better and waterproof.. and will eventually get it. Just not by paying for it all at once, as I only have to do the down payment and tax on it to get it then I have a monthly payment, so its better than out right and feeling too guilty.

I have extreme buyers remorse so I have to think really hard if I want to buy something. Sometimes I just make it a reward, like after I worked really hard, I will buy something that I have always wanted. but it doesn't happen that often. I don't really have anything BIG I want to get, I would like a new laptop, but that is more of a practical item, not a it is just going to sit on my shelf and I get to enjoy looking at it, kind of thing haha

I do sometimes get buyers remorse, but not always. I sometimes end up selling the item if I don't like it anymore, so I won't be out of lost money most of the time, or break even. I do want a big ticket item, new laptop but not anytime soon - maybe toward the end of the year. Mine is getting a little old.
