I just returned from a fun and filling brunch with my husband and a few neighbors. I was able to have a leisurely and long brunch, because I hurt my knee yesterday and couldn't exercise.
I've been reading a lot, gabbing, texting, and Facetiming with friends and family, but above all, I've been watching the Olympics.
My granddaughter is a figure skater. She began skating at the Sky Rink in Chelsea Piers in New York City, where she's had at least five different coaches. For the last two years, she has been taking lessons at Ice House in Hackensack, New Jersey.
Apparently, Ice House has 10 of its skaters competing in this year's Olympics. The elite level classes are empty. Perhaps you've seen them.
Paige Connors and Evgeny Krasnopolsky representing Israel
Alexa Paganini and Nicole Rajicona representing Switzerland
Andrew Poje representing Slovakia
Kaitlyn Weaver representing Canada
Ronald Zilberberg and Adel Tankova representing Israel
Brendan Kerry representing Australia
And someone else whose name I didn't get
Let's wish them luck!

Figure skating is one of my favorite sports at the Winter Olympics! I'll keep an eye out for your 10 skaters! I have confidence that your little Ice Princess will be on that elite list in a few short years!

It's interesting how those representing other countries train here . . . and some are actually from here but represent other countries. I'm out of the loop on many of the current skater names, but if they were shown, I probably saw them. We were out to dinner when the ladies short skated . . . and they repeated it last night on TV, but I fell asleep for most of it !

'Facetiming' is a new expression I learnt here. What's that?
Busy as a bee and so no time to watch tv much.

@DianneN - The Ice House must have an awesome reputation, to have students representing so many different countries. How wonderful that your granddaughter has the opportunity to study there!

I've seen some of those names on the list. I still need to watch the rest of last night's figure skating. I only saw the dance, and went to bed. But I will watch the rest, maybe today before it starts again tonight. I'm not watching the afternoon, as I'm trying to get caught up here.

@DianneN If she does make it, that's quite an honor. And if she doesn't make it, she's still a very skilled figure skater, that will never change!
