Tasting Mystery Oreo

Oreo really came up with a gimmick with these limited edition cookies. The consumer guesses the mystery flavor and submits it to a guess the flavor contest via text or online. First prize is $50,000 with five runner-up $10,000 prizes. Upon opening the package, there is an immediate citrus odor to the cookies. Icing is white so no clue there. Not lemon or orange which are common and obvious. Lime is possible. My best guess is grapefruit. Oops too late. The contest ended 11-30-17 meaning these cookies had a decent shelf life staying fresh. Naturally I found these rejects at the 99 Cents Store. The cookies are edible but the flavor, whatever it is, is just not appealing. Stick to regular Oreos. I looked up online as to what the mystery flavor was revealed to be: Fruity Pebbles like the cereal. I never would have guessed that.

That is a very unique Oreo flavor. Agree with you, I'd stick with the regular Oroes.

Somehow fruity pebbles flavor and a chocolate cookie with icing (Oreo) strikes me as an "odd" couple. From your review I think you agree.

Oh bummer you couldnt have cashed in Does the 99 cent store ever sell expired foods? Just wondering. We have a few discount geocery stores I go to and you have to be wary of the born on dates.

Yes, they do. One must take care in checking expiration dates.

Thanks for the head ups. I think we would be getting it here late too. At least now I know when I see that one, I won't be getting it.

It puzzles me that someone would want Fruity Pebbles flavored cookies, so guessing they might not be a "keeper" and we won't see these for long in local stores.

I thought the same thing. Who wants Fruity Pebbles cereal to begin with.

I remember an ESPN talking about this. He said it tasted like cereal, but he couldn't put a name to it.

I saw those mystery oreos in the store. I thought they might be fun to try. I didn't end up purchasing them though.
