Old Man Winter Just Won't Loosen His Grip

United States
March 2, 2018 6:17am CST
Snow has been falling and starting to accumulate. As I gaze out my window I see it is a heavy snow and we have about 2 inches of the white crap already. Supposed to get quite a bit of it today. The snow had melted away thanks to the warm temperatures we had in the past few days. It was nice to open the windows for some fresh air. Now we keep them closed to keep the warmth in and the cold out. The temps are supposed to rise a bit more this next week. But, who really knows what is around the corner. March is an iffy month and we can often see high temps one day and freeze the next. Today I am home nursing a sick child back to health. Seems the stomach bug is going around and Little Miss came down with it. So, I am spared the need to travel slick roads today. Truthfully, I would rather travel slick roads than to have her sick at home. So, today I get to enjoy watching the snow as it falls from the sky and land on the limbs of the barren trees. It will leave behind a beautiful landscape for the eye to see. Hopefully tomorrow will bring sunny skies and good health. I am ready for both.

We got dumped on yesterday and overnight too. But, its March, and we have to expect this. Nobody expected, but everyone enjoyed the warm and sunny weather that February brought-let's hope that there will be a lot more of that to come. I hope that your granddaughter starts to feel better soon.

@Juliaacv I am sure that I didn't gain friends at work by calling out today. I had hoped that when she got sick at daycare yesterday that it was a fluke. She woke this morning though complaining that her tummy hurt. I knew I was going to be in for a ride today. Poor kiddo.

@ElusiveButterfly You're just doing the very best that you can, its too bad if your co-workers don't have the heart to understand, but your granddaughter needs you, sending sick kids to day-care is how bugs go around. Try not to feel too guilty, hopefully she'll rally and feel better which will help you.

@shaggin there was a delay for schools today in our area. I cancelled my afternoon clients. It stopped for a little while, but is coming down quite hard now.

I am so sorry! I donĀ“t like winter at all. We are at the end of the summer here but although the days are chillier, the sun still shines.

I love it when the sun is shining and warms the air. The past few days were great. I had the windows down in the car and opened the windows at home. Not today though!

@ElusiveButterfly I understand that older people in the US go to Florida in winter. I would not be able to survive snow at my age

@marguicha I wish we could afford to move south for the winter months. I guess I chose the wrong career. If I had stayed on course and completed my college career I would be in a different spot.

We have the same kind of snow here, heavy and we have at least 10 inches on the ground. From tomorrow afternoon it should turn into rain.

@LadyDuck we chose dish because of the ever rising costs of cable and internet through them.

I tried to watch the weather report, but the signal to our dish keeps going out. Have to wipe off the heavy snow every 20 minutes.

@ElusiveButterfly We get TV via Internet, so we have no problems when it rains or snows.

Just got her to go down for a nap. She had a couple of bites of toast and some pedialyte and so far so good. As for the snow, yeah, if I could send it your way I would be more than happy to do so.

She is drinking plenty of fluids so I hope she will be better by the evening. In New England, you have to expect the crazy weather patterns. Sick of it though.

Good to know that finally you are getting rid of winters now. It's good to know that temperature is rising and snow is melting.

We had snow too during the night and it is beautiful to look at it on the trees. But, we are still sick of the snow. We want our beloved Spring to arrive ASAP.

Once spring comes it brings mudseason. I hate driving on the back roads when the mud is thick.

Here in Florida, he loosened his grip fully in February, only to try to grab it back here in March. After record cold in January, we had record heat in February, and now it seems like we are returning to normal March temperatures! (if there is a such things as "normal" anymore!)

I guess normal is whatever Mother Nature decides it will be. We just have to be prepared for whatever she throws our way. Tomorrow we are expecting another storm. We could get up to 18 inches of snow. Yay.

@ElusiveButterfly After being unusually warm for the past month, we just had a cold front come through Florida that is going to knock our nightly lows down into the upper 30s. And this is supposed to be spring for us right now!

March is always iffy in Australia too. We can get some very hot days but other times it can be quite chilly and even rain.

We have hot days in the summertime and unexpected hot days when we really should have cool weather.
