What's your main random snack food when your tummy rumbles?

Most of us eat two or three meals a day. But I assume most of us "graze" occasionally between meals. I'm going to make a smoothie for breakfast today before going hiking with a friend. But I just had a bit of my current random snack food while waiting for the dishwasher to complete its cycle. My random snack food is a bit eccentric: hearts of palm dipped in Marie's blue cheese dressing. Hearts of palm are kind of like artichoke hearts (often used in salads), but they're a smooth column in shape. I think they actually come from palm trees. I also usually keep slicked turkey or sliced lox around, and will just cut some off and gobble it up, without bread, when my tummy rumbles. What is your default snack food when you're just toddling around the house between meals?

My fixed meal is usually dinner, I often skip breakfast and lunch because of snacks. The latest common choice has been peanuts, but I'm fine with whatever is available.

I just realized as I was taking the picture for this post that I also often slice off a bit of banana and gobble it up. I don't usually have peanuts here.

@amadeo Good morning to you as well! So far this morning I've had only leftover tortilla chips. I'm about to make a smoothy, though.

We have kids here, so there are tons of random snacks lying around. But for me, it might an apple or banana, Trader Joe's version of Pirate Booty, some dandelion greens if I have it, a handful of baby spinach, string cheese, a handful of almonds or walnuts, a forkful of kim chee or sauerkraut . . . lots of random snacks!

Kids seem to love string cheese. I do sometimes slice of a hunk of Swiss cheese for a quick snack. What is Pirate Booty?

It depends on if I have anything at all @TheHorse but if I can swing it; a PB&J sandwich.

I don't mind PBJ. But making one is too much work when I want to graze.

Mini wheats. Just love to grab a handfull and eat them. But 21 are considered a serving and are 6 Weight Watchers points out of my 23 points for the entire day! I need a new snack. Like water.

Water sounds good. But not very filling. Does three mini-wheats help? Or does it make you want more?

I may be a small person but I can eat like a horse. Though I'm not a breakfast person, I try not to skip it but I eat light. And I need to have my snacks or I'll die. Burger, fries, fried noodles, dumplings, these are just a few of my in between meals.

As you like a lot hearts of palm, I thought to let you know what exactly they are. Heart of palm is harvested from the inner core of certain palm trees, mainly the coconut. In Italy we call them "palmito". I like to make a salad with hearts of palms and shrimps.

@TheHorse I never mixed tomatoes and hearts of palms, sometimes I mix corn kernels and surimi (imitation crab). It makes a very good salad.

I usually have some type of fruit, pony. (I just ate a banana.) I also have a peach and a plum on my bedside table. What is "slicked turkey"? (I know lox is cured salmon. I wouldn't eat it, but I know what it is.) Earlier, I cut a slice of ham and ate that without bread.

I try to avoid snacking, but when I do it is most likely to be something with cheese. Dates and cheese go together very nicely.
