What's for dinner? March 21

What's going on the dinner table tonight? Share with us! I am making a skirt steak. I have it packed in a zip-lock bag with a garlic clove, a sprig of rosemary, and a pat of butter and it is cooking sous vide at the moment. I'll let it cook for a couple of hours that way and then finish it in a hot cast iron skillet to get a nice brown crust on both sides. To go with it I am having the last of the leftover mashed potatoes and some steamed asparagus. Nothing fancy here tonight but it will be good. I normally have steak on Wednesdays when we go out to dinner. I'm not going out tonight but I figure I can still have my steak. That's what's happening here. What are YOU having? I want to know!

I will be eating lots of fruits and vegetables until I'm full and satisfied. (apples, tangerines, lettuce, cucumbers, zucchinis, okra, fresh fava beans and a hot pepper)

@NJChicaa Yes, and I added a couple of Brazil nuts and some dulse and it was amazing! The okra was so fresh and sweet! Yummy!

@NJChicaa The noodles are colored like green so there's supposed to be veggie content. Tastes the same.

That sounds good! No big dinner plans here. Maybe a salad and a smoothie.

That would be a good lunch for me but not satisfying enough for dinner.

Good you didn't break the habit and still plan to have a steak. I had rice with lentils, not very exciting perhaps, but it was fine, for a change.

I'm not allowed to make corned beef at home. My husband says the smell makes him feel sick.

He is staying at a hotel at work tonight and tomorrow night. (last night too) Last night and tonight are because executives from France are in town and they are entertaining them. We live so far away that it makes no sense for him to be driving all the way back here just for a couple of hours of sleep. (plus the storm tonight) He is flying to NC early Friday morning from Philly so he is staying out there Thursday night to be near the airport. I'm on my own until Sat afternoon.

I don't even know at this point. I picked up a package of really nice London broil last night before the sale on them ended, so maybe I'll do something with them. Might just take the quick and easy way and slice them up, then toss them in with some frozen stir fry veggies and cook some rice to go with them. Anything more ambitious than that, I'll probably foist the cooking duties off on my husband when he's off work.

haha I love to marinate London broil and then grill it. I only buy it in the summer and fall usually.

@NJChicaa I usually get a few per month because we like to use it for making beef stew. I've actually never done the "proper" thing with it and marinated it before grilling, but that's on my list to do in a few weeks when it's a bit warmer and I get off my butt and get our propane tank refilled.

@yukimori I find that chuck roast is better for stew as it has some fat in it. I would think that London broil would be a bit tough.
