Taking Up the Challenge!

Monday morning we went out to breakfast with the grandkids. When we left the restaurant the grandkids noticed the hill behind the restaurant. Several of the kids decided to roll down the hill. Soon all of the children were rolling down..... My daughter inlaw joined them. Next time they asked me to join them. I was ready to refuse when my husband made a comment about me not rolling. That was a challenge! Don't tell me I'm incapable of something so simple. Mere moments later I rolled down with the grandkids and my daughter inlaw. There was a lot of laughter. My son videoed the hilarity. My was I dizzy when I reached the bottom.

That sounds like a lot of fun! I wouldn't be able to participate in such fun myself. But, watching it would be great!

At a week short of 62....I had a blast. I do all sorts of things that people my age aren't expected to do. I don't care to just sit and watch if I can participate. My son and husband wimped out. They merely watched.

@ElusiveButterfly I've worked hard, and continue to work at being in better shape. I'm a stress eater....and in times of stress my weight tends to balloon and I become more and more inactive.

I haven't rolled down a hill in years. I slid down one about two years ago (crash and slide on my back), but that wasn't much fun,

After the video was shared on Facebook, my niece responded....you're never too old for hill rolling. .....I didn't get hurt....but I sure laughed.

Oh goodness, should I join the kids of my neighbors when they roll down the hill behind our properties. I have to say that our hill is very steep, I risk to roll down before being ready.

I was a little concerned that I might not be able to control my rolling. (It wasn't a problem.). The biggest challenge was the children rolling hither and yon with no concern for anyone else.

I used to really love rolling down hills and would do it at any opportunity. Now you made me wonder if I could still roll down a hill. I think you were right to take up the challenge. I think it is fun to be like a child once in a while.

@Morleyhunt way to go. I cannot wait until I find a carousel I can ride. My all-time favorite childhood ride.

Everyone has learned I'm unpredictable. When we were at McDonald's with a two year old grandson, All of the adults (me included) joined him in the PlayPlace, sliding down the slides.

@RasmaSandra one of my favourite photos of my mother is her enjoying a ride on the carousel when she was about 80 years old. She was clearly enjoying every moment.

One reason I enjoy the company of children. They're so spontaneous and self-consciousness isn't in their nature. But rolling down hills is better when among kids. Can you imagine what other people would be thinking if I, a grandmother is seen rolling down and climbing back up and repeating the activity alone?

I expect a few people questioned my sanity even when I was accompanied by children,

I think that I see you in a purple top. Times like this are fun and make for great memories. They'll have to plan a trip when the hill is covered with snow, think of the fun to be had then!

We have a hill behind our house for winter, we've already discussed the possibility of tobogganing down it. The purple sweater and black pants is me rolling. if I knew how to share the video...it's even funnier.

They did. It was fun. Now I'm definitely the cool grandma. Next up....jumping off the bridge into the river in the middle of town....hmmmm....somehow I would feel very exposed!

I'm fortunate not to suffer from allergies to grass. I'm spontaneous....I looked at my clothes and said, Why not?

I remember sliding down the stairs on my butt when I was a kid. If I tried it now I'd slip every disc in my spine. I'm glad you didn't injure yourself.

We used to have races down the stairs. No, could do that any more. Tobogganing in the winter....that I'll still do!
