Most my weekend was spent pet sitting

Friday my boyfriend and his son went to an amusement park for a work picnic and spent the night there then went to a zoo the following day. His dog stayed here while they were gone. The little sun conure we had went to a new home Friday afternoon. My house has been much quieter since. I took the dogs hiking in the game lands and my boyfriends dog walked right over the geocache we were looking for. That night I got some time to finish the book I was reading “Hour Game” by David Baldacci and have since started “After You” by JoJo Moyes which is the sequel to “Me Before You”. Saturday morning my boyfriends dog was licking something under the table. She licks things constantly (the couch, the floor etc) so I didn’t think much of it. After awhile I looked down and say she had a bottle of acrylic paint she chewed and was licking the paint. Thankfully it was non-toxic. Then after the rain stopped I took the dogs outside and his dog laid down in a huge muddy puddle in my driveway and got covered. I sprayed her with the hose to clean her off and she thought it was the best game ever. She got me soaked and drank at least as much water as I sprayed her with lol then it was a battle trying to dry her off with a towel. My boyfriend got here about 3 pm. He made breakfast burritos for everyone for dinner and I made Buttermilk Blueberry Breakfast Cake for a snack. He spent the night and the boys got along really well. Sunday my daughter and I went shopping. Friday I had taken my daughter to the chiropractor again. He said we have plateaued in the treatment and wanted her to see her doctor to order a cervical spine X-ray. We think when she went roller skating back in April and kept falling that she hurt her neck a kind of whiplash. So that’s what we did today. The photo is a decoration I saw on the wall at the hospital today. She has a friend over now and they walked to town to buy themselves ice cream and are going to watch movies the rest of the day. Our dog is finally seeming more comfortable with the friend being here she even let the girl pet her.

Dogs are more trouble than kids sometimes. I'm glad your puppy tolerated your daughter's friend. And I really love that decoration.

@JudyEv my dog is such a good girl but his is such a trouble maker. I noticed at the end of this post I forgot to edit out my notes of what I did each day as I was rearranging what to write in what paragraph.

@JudyEv I always appreciate being corrected. Typos are an easy mistake to miss but Grammer I am terrible at so I always appreciate if someone mentions my mistakes so I can learn from them.

@shaggin I saw that and recognised it for what it was as I do exactly the same. I also jot down a word or two to jog my memory about a post I want to write. I'm never sure whether to let people know about such things. Some don't like to be 'corrected' as they see it.

Sounds like quite the eventful weekend. It's funny how dogs don't like to take baths normally but they do love the water.

@ScribbledAdNauseum his dog loved when I gave her a bath last time. She didn't like getting soaped up as much as just splashing around in it. It's cute how much she loves the water but she sure makes a mess especially if it's mud puddles.

@shaggin I've had dogs that have turned their back on me when bathing them. Others who loved it because of the scratching they got.

@ScribbledAdNauseum my dog hates it she tries to jump out constantly and then runs away from me when I try to dry her off.

Sounds like a busy day. I hate that your daughter got hurt. Back problems are no joke. I hope that they can get it all sorted out for her. That buttermilk blueberry breakfast cake sounds good!

@Shellyann36 the breakfast cake was very good! We narrowed down her neck injury to falling so many times while going roller skating with a friend in April. We kept going back to the chiropractor but after a few visits it wasn't really getting any better. After going about a dozen times we cancelled our appointment yesterday as it's just taking up to much of our summer going to these appointments for nothing.

@shaggin I am sorry to hear that she is not better after going to the chiropractor. Once she is older and she has stopped growing she might want to visit again. From personal experience, my chiropractor helped me tremendously when I was in my 20's and I wish I could afford to go visit him again. I do hope she starts feeling better.

Sounds like you had a very busy weekend. I hope they figure out what is going on with your daughter and get it taken care of soon. I am on book 40 now and going strong. I know I will reach my goal of beating 59 books read for the year.

@Tina30219 I am waiting for the doctor to call me back today to let me know the results of the x-ray. Then next Tuesday she goes back to the chiropractor. I have only read 12 books this year. I am way behind with reading compared to other years but there just isn't enough time in a day for everything.

@shaggin I hope the x-rays come back ok and nothing to serious. You are right there is never enough time in a day to do everything.

Hi Shaggin. Your weekend was jam-packed. I am glad you had a great time. Happy to see your new discussion and hear from you. Will your daughter have therapy sessions too?

@mlgen1037 I am not sure if she will need physical therapy on the neck or not. The chiropractor didn't think they would see anything in the x-ray as far as an injury like broken bones etc. He just wanted the results so he could see the alignment.

@Courtlynn we had to cancel plans to go back to the roller skating rink as I think that's what caused the injury to begin with. We are delaying going to the amusement park as well due to rides probably won't be good for her neck either. My boyfriend wants us all to go to an amusement park, a cave and a reptile zoo in a few weeks. We will have to see what the chiropractor says.

@shaggin aw that's sad. I hope she can do other things at the amusement park, if she cant go on rides so you can all still go.

Would have been so scared to see a dog licking paint but since you said it isn’t harmful then that’s ok.

@aureliah I was scared too. I jumped up and grabbed it ready to call poison control to ask what to do when I saw it was non-toxic and breathed a sigh of relief.
