On stones and energy - does it work like that?

Hi MyLot, At the start of June I went to a fair of sorts. This is the same place where a woman called an "intuitive" told me that I was similar to a Javalina (if you guys saw that post) lol. So, I was at a vendor's booth buying stones. Now a certain grouping of people believe that the energies in rocks and stones help people with certain things, health or relationship situations. Where do I stand on this? I don't know what to say. I know there is energy in stones. For example, old watches used to run off of quartz or ruby movements. I don't know if they still do. And I thought there some some kind of energy or memory storing capacity in quartz - I thought at one time I had heard how quartz was/is used in computing. Don't quote me there. But as for the stones being able to help people.... I take that with a grain of salt, but I guess, if God wanted it to work that way - it could. So, backing up - I was at this fair, buying stones. I wanted them for jewelry use. Each one for sale had a little tag with stating it's price, name and what it was good for. ** I didn't pay any attention, other than price and name** I bought strictly based on looks, and price. Got 1 stone for my mom and 1 stone for my dad, too. The vendor gave me the cards that went with each stone. (You know, the ones with their names and what energies they "heal") I didn't even look at the cards until I got home. Imagine my surprise. I got a Serpentine for my dad, because he likes the lemon/lime color that it is. My jaw dropped when I read the card. Apparently Serpentine will help the owner with issues related to diabetes and mental illness. Both of which my dad suffers from. The latter of which causing him a great deal of issues. I got a Beryl for my mom. Only because it was pale green and pretty. My jaw dropped even further. Apparently the Beryl helps the owner with interpersonal difficulties / difficult relationships. Exactly what my mom goes through on a daily basis with my dad. What are the odds that - not having read the cards prior purchase - that I would have chosen the exact right ones, out of the 100 or so specimens that the vendor had, for the people I was giving them to? What do you think , My lot? Is there something to the stones and energies thing? Photo: Pixabay

I don't believe stones heal people, but the placebo effect is definitely real. It's cool to think about, and would be great if they did something. You never know.

Perhaps a lot of the cards have similar messages to the ones you chose, but I hope they do impart some good energy.

How about that! I do somewhat but I am still not convinced its not all power of suggestion, which is absolutely strong. I told Tony he was not sick for months and months and he went about life, being strong and doing stuff, then the doctor crashed all that and told him he was sick again. I shake my head.

I absolutely believe that stones are energy. I don't necessarily agree with what is written about them in books or online as to their meanings, but I am very much attracted to some stones and put off by a few others. Some of my favorites are peridot, tanzanite, and amethyst but I do not like pearls or opal.

@FayeHazel Not so much from wearing them as from holding them in my hand.

I too - believe for sure, though I don't know to what extent. Do you notice a difference when you wear the Peridot, Tanzanite (such a unique blue purple) or Amethysts?

@drannhh Interesting. I read an article that said that if stones are being worn for energy use - that most of the stone should touch the skin..... so it makes sense from holding them :-)

My mother used to be into the power of gems. Well, I guess a good part of it can be placebo effect. If you believe it works, eventually it will. Stones work like amulets, so you have to charge and recharge them before use. Cool coincidence you chose the right ones for your parents.

@FayeHazel It depends on how much of their energy you consume, I guess.

I agree. It would be hard to "prove" that they work. However the placebo effect is real.... :-) I wonder how often they need to "charge" :-)

Personally, I don't believe in it, but my grandson does, and shops at the Rock Shop all the time for various stones that help with depression and negativity. He says it's helping. Sometimes, just knowing you have something like that said to work in favor with problems, issues you have, is a good stepping off place for making it happen in your life.

@FayeHazel Those who have copper bracelets all seem to think they help with arthritis. I don't think it matters that it can't be proven. If people believe these things help then that's a great thing and they should keep wearing them. I have gin-soaked raisins for arthritis and I don't know if they're helping or not but my fingers certainly aren't any worse so I'll keep on with them.

I love stones and crystals. I am also a witch and believe in various things that I have experienced. However, I tend to lean towards scepticism until I see evidence. I think it is nice to believe in the healing properties of stones, and there may well be some truth in it, even if it is placebo/psychosomatic. My partner, who is sceptical about everything, even when something happens right in front of him, believes that crystals can have energy. Honestly, I am not sure but they are pretty and, if their energies are supposed to be positive, you won't be losing anything by believing that.

@FayeHazel My sister has experienced more (ghosts, clairsentience, etc.) while my own experience you might call more intuition. I have had a few conversations with my partner in which I basically say that what people might describe as 'psychic' or others describe as 'hokey', I believe could be explained by science that we just haven't learnt yet. My most memorable experience was wanting to call my mum late at night. I never call my mum, let alone late at night! I didn't have a reason to, and I thought it was too late. My mum called the next day to tell me my auntie had been on the phone telling her my uncle had passed - at exactly the time I wanted to call me mum.

Many years ago one of my friends wanted to join a workshop. The topic was stones and their energies. She asked to me come along. I didn't really believe in stones and I had no experience with those things, but I still agreed to come. Our teacher asked us close our eyes and pick a stone from a bag. Afterwards we had to hold the stone in our hands for a while. When I held the stone in my hand I suddenly felt really scared. I didn't expect to feel anything at all, but the feeling was very strong. I still remember the experience very clearly.

There have always been products or objects which have been used to heal, bring good luck and provide hope. One product I remember buying was a copper bracelet for arthritis. Rabbits foot, clear quartz stone for healing, magic potions/elixir are other ones. How well they work depends on your faith in the products magic I suppose.
