I know Berlin wall and Great Wall of China are unique and very popular In the World!
We also have Unique Wall in our country, India, which is becoming very popular now-a-days!
This Wall is known as ‘Neki Ki Deewar’ in Hindi, which means ‘A Wall of Righteousness’!
This is a ‘Wall’, where the people, they hang their clothes and other unwanted things for those people who are in need of them thus making the life easy for them.
This project was started in NCR area Gurgaon a few years back by a NGO and today we have many such Walls in Major big cities of the Country.
Because of this wall many poor and underprivileged people are getting help in a dignified way and this concept is spreading very fast.
Today in Gurgaon there are 16 such walls where they are providing free food also for the needy and the NGOs are targeting to have one wall for each sector in the city!
Have you heard anything like this before? Do you have such walls in your City? How you liked the concept?
Please respond, your response will be highly appreciated as usual!

@Shivram59 , That must have been some NGO started it! I am really surprised why it should have been discontinued?

Oh thats an interesting idea. I like it, a lot! :-) My only concern would be - what if the clothes became rained on, or people who dont have need take them?
Here we don't have that. Sometimes people will crochet scarves and just leave them in public with a note saying - if you are cold please take and have the scarf.
Also there are some organizations for the needy. Sometimes these things are sponsored by Church s - people will leave clothes, household goods, etc... and then the needy can come in and take things

I have never heard of anything like that before! That's such a great idea and the way it should be, with people helping people. Here, as was stated elsewhere, we have charities and some churches that help. People donate clothes and other items and they're given away.

@MALUSE Our containers are property of the Red Cross and the Caritas. I do not place clothes in the containers of TexAid, because they made a business of this. Both my husband and I are allergic to polyester (synthetic in general), we all wear cotton, I have something made with silk and cotton. I have donated a lot in Italy in the past 7 months. All the clothing of my mother has been brought to a Church where they take care of the poor and homeless.

Only recently, I've watched a feature film on TV about this topic. Unfortunately, the collection of clothes in containers is not what people think. The container collections are a profitable business for the people who own them.
Good clothes (and many clothes are good because we live in a rich part of the world and people give away good things simply because they want to buy new clothes) are sold in second-hand shops.
Some are sent to Africa and sold there. Can you imagine? Many clothes are now made of pure synthetic material or a mixture with natural materials. I wouldn't like to wear a polyester blouse in a tropical climate!
Unwearable clothes are made into rags which are then sold to factories to clean machinery with.

that is a very uplifting image to see; walls of righteousness. too sad we do not have that here, because if a good cloth is hung, there is a possibility that the cloth will be stolen.

That is something I am hearing for the first time. Our country is proud to have the best wall ...with a noble cause.

@AKRao24 I work very closely with one as volunteer. I keep donating them. I donate to SOS Children Village at the back road to my house.

There are one or two places where people hang jackets for the poor in the winter time. I have seen those walls and they really hang good jackets that the needy can use for protection against the winter cold

We don't have a wall like this, but there are a couple of neighborhoods that I have been in that have little cupboards where people can leave things they don't want (in these I have seen mostly food items and books) and people put things in and take things out.
