My faith in humanity has been restored. Well, mostly.

I'm not basically a cynical person. In fact, I've always pretty much believed and trusted people. Boy, have I grown up. But it's really a good thing that I do question motives now and don't just believe everything anyone says. I've gotten so used to poor customer service on line and in person. I have a headache just thinking about it. But today I had two interactions with an on line rep and a sales person at our local Belk's store. I was returning a pair of sandals to Belks because the strap was breaking and I've only had them a short while. They're my favorite sandals, so I was hoping she wouldn't give me a hard time returning them. Not only did she not give me a hard time, she was just as pleasant as she could be. No problem...she ordered a new pair and will have them shipped to my home. Very friendly, totally what a sales person should be. I left the store actually smiling! Later, I got a phone call to schedule a CT scan this week for a possible kidney stone. That lady was just beyond helpful and nice and such a pleasure to deal with. She scheduled two appointments for me on the same day so I don't have to drive an hour each way on two separate days. She even apologized for putting me on hold for a moment! So, today I have more faith in humanity than I did last week. Their kindness even makes me want to show more kindness to others. I pray God will help me to do just that. How's your opinion of people today?

Rude people are not the majority, but we tend to notice more them than those who are kind.

@1creekgirl I think it is a normal human reaction, you are not happy not to have a stone in your shoes, but you notice when you have one.

That's true, obnoxious people tend to get all the attention.

I had no contact with people today but when I went to ask about opening a bank account I found the most helpful people about a week ago. Now I have the documents I need and I will return tomorrow to open the account. Know what to expect I am looking forward to it. Glad you had such helpful people too.

@1creekgirl yes, me and my cat Sid are getting settled and used to things. It will still take some time but things are going alright. I am writing at my desktop PC and Sid is lying in the window beside me calmly looking out onto the street. I guess in a way he must wonder why I no longer let him out.

There's basically two kind of people in this world, the good and the bad to various degrees. It's so good when we meet the kind that you met.

Having people actually being nice while doing their jobs is such a stress reliever for the customer. I am glad they turned around your way of thinking. Is that the lighthouse at Nags Head? Bodie Island I believe?

Yes, it is! Have you been there? It's so pretty, but we didn't climb to the top.

@1creekgirl I sure have been there. I have visited almost all of the lighthouses on the Outerbanks. They are wonderful. Have you been to Kitty Hawk?

That’s great for every bad customer service , there will always be some good service. My CT scans are always handled by nice staff. You said kidney stone, the last time I had mine done they had me lay on my stomach they can see the stone better.prior to that I was on my back and they couldn’t see the stone. So now required to be on my stomach to get a better scan.

Wow, I hadn't heard of that. I guess it depends where the stone is located. Are you doing okay now? I just finished up Cipro for a kidney infection, but not sure if there's a stone also. Sure hope not. I had an almost life-ending experience last Thanksgiving when a stone blocked the opening and I went into septic shock. Praise God I survived it. Did your doctor tell you to drink lots of citrus juice to help prevent stones? I need to drink more water, but I hate it.

@CookieMonster46 Thanks. I'm trying to drink more water, but I really don't like it. But better than letting the stones grow bigger.

wow, that is great! That should be the attitude of customer care people. Just had a bad experience with an agent, very rude and all.

Whenever I encounter rude and difficult persons I remind myself that they are in the minority.
