Third time around

Has American actor Richard Gere finally found his true Pretty woman ? The 68 - year old star of blockbuster movies - including "Pretty Woman" and "An Officer and a Gentleman" , married earlier this year for the third time.
His new bride is Spanish beauty Alejandra Silva who is 33 years his junior. What a big age difference ? - but that hardly matters in Hollywood circles - and elsewhere for that matter.
The elderly man marrying someone young enough to be his daughter is not frowned upon - but let it be the other way around - elderly woman, young man.
Would you marry someone who is 33 years older - or younger than yourself ? Which do you think would have the better survival rate - elderly male/young female or elderly female/young male.

Would I marry someone who is 33 years older? She would be 102. Maybe, if she owns the fountain of youth as we will both need it.

@Kandae11 It is probably the last thing on her mind. I wonder how old was the oldest person that ever got married?

That's what I was thinking. Would I marry someone 30 years older than me? Might be hard to find one who likes to play music out and go hiking. 30 years younger? If we had enough to talk about. And if she wasn't glued to a cell phone.

When I see a couple like that I have one thought "Gold digger!" the younger is waiting for the other to die and get it all. ...... remember Anna Nicole? That was just gross!

He is handsome and he is rich. At 35 years of age, many pretty women have already lost the possibility of getting a man either handsome or rich. Who cares! Do they have fun together now? Then it is perfect.

@Kandae11 Then she is no pauper. Surely they will not have the kind of relation that teens do. But I´m sure that there are lots of things they can share.

Why marry? I just don't see any reason for marriage unless you plan to have children and even then I'm not sure I would marry.
As for age differences, I think it depends on the couple involved, some men prefer really young women while some like them older but the real problem is if a young woman would accept an old man or an old woman a young man.

My view ...marriage is outdated. It hurts. In the past, people returned home early and spent time with wife and kids. Now, there is so much work and travel involved that by the time people return they are too tired, and often they bring homework. So the bonding takes a beating. Television is another culprit while cell phones laptops tablets etc make straying convenient. Marriage only when the couple want a baby.

@rebelann. Sometines I wonder why Hollywood couples bother to get married - their marriages except for a few - don't last too long. Especially between actors and actresses - one love scene with a co -star and they begin to stray. So what if you meet someone who sweeps you off your feet?

The majority of us older men are not aging studs like Gere whose appeal to women has never diminished.

I wouldn't marry a man 33 or even 20 years my senior or junior regardless of who he is, how much money he's got or when his expry date is. I can't see it lasting for long. These types of relationships remind me of the Eagles song "Lying Eyes".
Eagles - Lying Eyes Lyrics City girls just seem to find out early How to open doors with just a smile A rich old man And she won't have to worry She'll dress...

I'll pass on marrying someone too old than me because I would be stamped as a gold digger, especially if he's rich and has a high social standing. No one would believe if you say it's true love and what if it is, no? So you'll be pounced on by gossip mongrels and all that. And then, you will have to face the wrath of his grown children who may think you're only after their daddy's money. I've heard of young men marrying older women but that's quite seldom though.

@Kandae11 That also depends because some men do like rich women, so they don't have to support so much. Of course, not all are like that though.

Survival rate as in length of marriage without divorce - probably the elderly male/young female. I don't see the elderly female/young male lasting very long. However, life wise - the younger of the two could find themselves with widow/widower status to their elderly spouse before the marriage did go to divorce.

No. 10 years older is fine but not more than that.
