Heading back to Western Australia

Tonight we’re in a town in South Australia called Elliston and tomorrow we’ll get past Ceduna and head out onto the Nullarbor on our way home to Western Australia. We left home on May 8 and should be home by the end of July. We have a couple of stops to make along the way.
It’s been a memorable trip. We enjoyed spending time with our son in Melbourne. We also had three weeks touring Tasmania. We got ourselves stuck on a narrow road and had to call the SES (State Emergency Service) to get us out and we’ve had a blowout. Then our car died nine days ago so we’re going home in a different vehicle. We haven’t had any illness or colds – touch wood – and we’ve seen some wonderful places and been through some really interesting museums and attractions.
In case we don’t have internet access again until we get home take care and I’ll be back when I can. The photo is from a sculpture we saw at Parachilna where we ate camel, kangaroo and emu meats.

@JudyEv Sounds like a wonderful trip! I've heard some good things about Melbourne so I want to go one day.
I knew about people eating Kangaroo meat and emu meat but totally didn't know about Camel meat. What did the camel meat taste like? In fact what does kanga and emu meat taste like?
When my family and I went to Busselton early this year, there is an IGA....or Coles? I forget but some store where they sell hollow Emu eggs. They are so huge! I don't really know what they are used for though. But fun to hold though.

None of the meats taste much different to me but I think to others they might. We had a pet emu which laid eggs. We would make a hole each end with a knitting needles then blow out the contents. We used to make sponge cakes in a baking dish as one emu egg equalled about a dozen hen eggs. We did try the eggs scrambled but they were very rich that way.

I think some of the distances we covered might have really tried us out if we'd been on bikes!

@amitkokiladitya Now that we are retired we are able to travel more but we couldn't afford to do it if we had to stay in hotels or fly to places.

@JudyEv That is interesting. The most unusual meat I have eaten is a gator. I tried it at the state fair one year. It is not a bad meat.

@Shellyann36 I've had crocodile which I guess wouldn't have been much different to gator.

I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner. I'm happy for you to use it but I haven't had internet for quite a few days so perhaps my permission comes too late. I hope not.

It's is good to experience the different areas of your own country - or a different country. There is a lot to see, that's for sure.
