A Wonderful Day On The Homestead

Sleeping till noon is the life, yes even on the homestead. I don`t have animals on my homestead, just vegetables, fruits and the like. Many things wild that God provided. No hard labor just a little brain power needed. The time has come for me to start canning vegetables and that is what I began to do today. After using much of the stockpile I noticed that I was out of sweet pickle relish so that was the first to make with the cucumbers, bell peppers and onions. At the moment the veggies are soaking in the brine and will be ready to home can in a couple hours. I also made up a new recipe for a product that I will offer up in the store, It is perfect! Dinner will be from the garden, stewed squash, fried okra and sliced red tomatoes. How was your day?

You were productive. I had a good day, worked on my book, started something new, and watched a movie.

I think people need to follow their own internal clock. However that means I am up between 5 and 6 most mornings.

@andriaperry You are welcome. I miss having fresh veggies from the garden. Oh, a fresh homegrown mater sandwich with some Duke's mayo would be so good right about now.

You cannot imagine how much I envy your okra. If I could only found seeds to plant.

@andriaperry We cannot import seeds from other countries around the world. This is a rule that almost all countries have. It is the same when you enter the United States from other countries, they ask if you have plants or seeds, they are forbidden.

I always wanted to have a vegetable garden but I have to read more to learn. Right now, I am happy that I will harvest chili peppers. I am waiting for them to be red before I harvest them.

Those who produce their own fruits and vegetables live in the lap of luxury as what one gets at stores is contaminated.

I think all the rain put mine off from coming in sooner. In a few weeks I will plow and plant Winter greens.

Looks a lovely day. I live in a city, so not much scope to grow vegetables and fruits though we do in a small way in pots - siva
