Syke, just kidding!!!! This is what our smoke alarms keep saying to us in the middle of the night. It is so annoying and no one can figure it out. Since we bought this house the smoke alarms have gone off. They always wait till about 2 in the morning to do it when we are all asleep. Its like they can see us because sometimes they wait until I go to bed and then go off. We have 9 of them in here and we have replaced all the batteries, cleaned out all the dust and reset them every week and FOR WHAT?? They still go off and then laugh at us. They are hard wired into the house so we can't even disconnect them, UGH!! Have any of you ever had problems like this??

@cintol I had an idea some air-fresheners can set them off. Do you have anything like that?

You might have yourself a haunted house! Or worst you have someone that has spy cams up and does this to freak you out. Is this a rental house? If not call an electrician something is wrong somewhere, like they are on a timer.

No the house is only 3 yrs old, we are the second owners but the first said they didn't do this to them. They said they never had a problem with them.

I wonder if they have expired? I didn't know that smoke and carbon monoxide detectors expire until my husband asked me to go out and buy new ones once. I would try to call an electrician and get their educated guess on this. Its kind of freaky and annoying.

The house is only 3 yrs old and the alarms are dated 8/15 so they can't possibly be expired yet. The alarm company has no clue either so they said if it continues they will send a crew out to check them

Ours goes off occasionally for no reason that I can see but I can climb up and turn it off. If I stand on a stool I can barely reach it.

Thanks Faye, yes it sucks but the company came out and replaced all the alarms throughout the house and so far so good. How are your Staves coming along, are you still working with them?

@FayeHazel Yeah, they could tell I was frustrated and not at all happy about it and I think when I told them I was going to find the fuse and just shut them all down, they knew they better do something. lol Well I am still waiting for that next video so get to practicing missy lol.

@cintol Oh good, I'm happy the company stood behind the product and you don't have to be up at like 2AM any more. Oh good memory, thanks for asking. I have been slacking a little with stave practice, but that was a good reminder :-)

Haha, yep thats what it is like trying to find the original beeper, so annoying. Ours are a lot louder than that when they go coz we have high ceilings so it like echoes through here.

I'm so glad you wrote this post. The battery was chirping in my daughters smoke alarm. I took the battery out and forgot to put a new one in. I'm going to go take care of that right now!

@cintol when the battery started chirping it was the middle of the night as well and my daughter woke up and asked me what it was. Once woken up I have such a hard time falling back asleep.

@shaggin I understand that, its so annoying. The company told us that if it chirps once it means it just needs to be reset so you push the button on it, 3 times is for smoke, 4 times is carbon monoxide.

in one house my son was buying and unfortunatly we just completely disconnected them. no way we could do that here with one person that tends to forget leaving things on the stove and falling asleep with a cig. but luckily they only go off if there is smoke. maybe shut yours off from power and just get new battery run ones.

yes, I thought about doing that and just getting stick on ones but the company sent someone out here and they went ahead and replaced all of them for no charge. They think one of them was shorting out and causing the rest to go off because they are all connected. So far so good.

We lived in a rental once that had the entire system hooked up electronically to go to an alarm company. Once it went off and we could not get it to stop. It sounded like a 3 alarm fire bell going off at a fire station. I tried everything to get it to turn off. Nothing worked. I called the realtor and asked what we should do and they told me to cut the wires. It turns out that I did not have to, I just had to disconnect it from the power source. Thankfully, I found the power source before I cut the wires.

@cintol I know how annoying it is. They are really loud or as you say shrill. Ours had the shrill sound and a large blinking light that kept going off. I know it totally pissed our neighbors off. I am sure they could hear it next door.

These can be sent to the alarm company as well but I am glad we don't have the service right now because we would be called constantly about these things. They are loud aren't they, I can't stand the sound it is so shrill. I told my husband to check the fuse box and see if they are on a separate breaker that we can just shut off because I can't take it anymore. Glad you didn't cut the wires, that would of cost a fortune to have repaired.

Maybe a ghost is setting them off! Is it possible to call a local alarm company and have them come out and replace them with new ones? Even though they are hard-wired, an electrician or somebody from an alarm company should be able to change them out for you. I would go crazy if my smoke alarms kept going off in the middle of the night!

I told my husband its probably my son who passed 2 yrs ago, it would be something he would do lol. We finally had the company come out because I couldn't take it anymore and they did replace each and every one. They said that one must have had a short or something in it that was causing them to go off, so far so good.

The first time the fire alarm sounded here, I jumped about two feet. It screamed Fire Fire too. Now, I have my broom close by so I can reach up and hit the silence button. It's located directly across from the stove on the ceiling. So, I need to remember to turn the stove fan on when I cook so it won't go off.

IS this a new house or you bought it from the previous owners? Did you do some investiagtion about this house of yours? As Judy Evans said in her response... IT SEEMS VERY STRANGE. I agree with her. Specially with all those cleaning and replacing the batteries too. I hope the entities that are doing this 2am with you and your family are just really kidding around. I know it is really very annoying specially at that time when everybody is supposed to be sleeping soundly. Have you researched anything about it, why it does that ? Good Luck and it would be nice if you will have an update about this :-)
