According to beauty experts, moisturizing your skin daily is essential for soft and beautiful skin. You can have great skin at any age and even though genetics play a role in our skin type, we all need a little help along the way. Lack of moisturizer could result in flaky, scaly and itchy skin which can also age faster. A great time to moisturizer is after a shower as showers are known to strip your skin of essential nutrients and dry it out. I must admit that I am not as rigid about applying moister as I used to be. How often do you moisturize your skin? What kind of moisturizers work best for you?

I do this daily. I am a fan of the Bath and Body works creams. They hold moisture in better than the lotions do.

@Freelanzer You are welcome. Also, creams are better than lotions for moisture.

@Freelanzer Well, I'm not sneaky about it, she knows I use it, but it's not something I just tell everybody about! haha. But the way I see it, if it works, then I'm the one who's going to have the last laugh. Everybody already says I look way younger than my actual age, so it must be helping somewhat, right?

Nice post, and thanks for the tips. My wife really likes Aveno. I know that keeping your skin moist also keeps your skin young looking and very healthy!

@Freelanzer , I also am told that washing with cold, rather than very warm or hot water is much safer and simply better for the face and hands. Hot or very warm water is damaging to the skin I think but don't quote me on that.

@lookatdesktop Makes sense because warm or hot water tend to dry out your skin faster. But it does take some courage to splash cold water on the face but I do this when I wake first thing in the morning - just to stay awake.

I know I should, but I don't usually. Sometimes I do rub on a bit of olive oil anyway.

I used to when I would go out to work daily but since I am mostly at home, I don't always. I do like to use coconut oil or organic creams.

I drink a lot of water and eat lots of fruits and vegetables. I have a hand moisturizer but rarely use it. Sometimes in the winter, I use it once in a while.

I guess you have to feed the skin from the inside as well and water and fruits and vegetables are ideal.

I put lotion every after taking a bath. So far, I am now turning 60 this December but my skin is still smooth amd not wrinkly yet. Although I have crow's feet already but they are minimal.

I apply it after a bath; sometimes when I find the mood, I apply on the face before bed.

I should moisturize more but do on occasion, especially during the winter months. That is a very good tip on doing it after a shower which I have done.
