Yes, 32 Hours And Counting...

Yes, 32 hours and counting that we have had no water now. They say they can't give us a time that we'll have water back. Apparently our suburb will be last to get water back because we are in a high lying area. The explosion at the power station really did cause a lot of areas to lose water because the water pumps at our main water station could not be powered. Thank goodness a neighbour of ours has parents that have a house with its own borehole and he was able to fill our empty bottles. We'd had quite a few bottles filled but it has been too many hours of dry taps. So again, thank goodness for our neighbour is all I can say. I hope everyone is having a good Thursday or will have a good Thursday.

Many people must be having a hard time. Hopefully, it won't be too long before your water will be restored.

No doubt about it @1hopefulman , we were a very fed up suburb. It took nearly 43 hours before we got water back, we're just happy it is back.

So glad that your neighbor was able to give you some water. We have our own well here but in Florida, we are at the mercy of the water company and at the lake as well.

@bluesa Yes I know, I have to filter the water at both places, I don't like the taste of it.

Did they ever figure out what caused the explosion at the power plant?

They think it was sabotage but they are still investigating, @moffittjc . There is a lot of unrest going on here at the moment.

you have good neighbors.here, there are pump wells where we can get water from but there is a danger of contamination

Good you have wells @ridingbet , I am sorry there might be a contamination issue with them though. Would boiling the water help with that?

@bluesa yes i think it will help, but we don't have those wells. we rely on the water from the faucet that is low in height because if the faucet is high, naturally water cannot 'climb up the faucet'. hahaha

Good neighbors are definitely "keepers." I am surrounded by to many bad ones myself. I must say Catherine, there is never a dull moment at your condo space. Unfortunately, it's the wrong kind of drama Hope it gets sorted soon, geesh...

@snowy22315 , we're still sitting with dry taps and now it is heading to nearly 34 hours. You're right it is terrible and we can't do much but wait. It is so good you have a deep well and won't have to wait like this.

That is way too long to be without water. You are lucky to have such wonderful and thoughtful neighbors. Is a borehole the same as a well? I pray that you get your water back soon.

Yes, Dianne, we were so lucky he did help us. I think a borehole is drilled and is smaller than a well. We finally got water back at 10pm last night @DianneN , nearly 43 hours after they switched it off, what a relief to have running water again.

I have lived in countries where these are common and also where power and water supply never fail. It is a question of attitude and work ethic - siva

It happened in our city too. Although, we're lucky that our area was not included in the line affected, I understand the peoples' sentiments same as yours. It lasted more than 3 days to repair the damaged pipes and restored the normal water supply.Good thing that you have this kind neighbor willing to extend their helping hands to the needy.
