Have you ever been faked?

I ordered a pair of Rayban sunglasses online. I had no idea about the shop’s background and I didn’t even bother check. Then I got the package this morning and thought, oh what a smooth transaction it was. Until I found this (refer to the photo). Did I just pay almost 25,000 yen for a fake product? What should I do?

The barcode is good, I have just controlled, and I doubt that a counterfeit would have reproduced the barcode. It is probably just a typo, it happens for the best brands.

That’s a relief. But what do you mean by ‘I have just controlled’?

@sol_cee I have verified that the product had a barcode from Italy. There is a reddit post about this typo.

It's only a typo, in our days the big companies do not take the time to check before printing, that is a shame.

@sol_cee You know Ray-Ban is now an "Italian Company", expect more errors in the future.

Topffer said the same thing, Anna-san. He found this reddit post online with the same claim as mine. I’m waiting for the seller’s reply to my mail.

Oh yes. I ordered Kenstar mixer grinder, and got Videocon, with only part of the product from Kenstar. It happens all the time sweetie - online purchases are dangerous. If you return it they may not give you your monies. LOL. My thumb rule is .. anything about 25 dollars go personally.

Maybe I have just been so complacent since counterfeiting/piracy is heavily frowned upon here.

This is why I always buy in store when it comes to branded stuff. Or from the online store of the shop itself instead of individual sellers. I spent 300$ for my dad’s one. And I’m sure it’s genuine. I hope you can still get a refund.

I noticed that wrong spelling of the word scientific. By this, you could suspect that you got a fake product! I don't know if it is easy to return the product and if you can reimburse your money.

That’s what caught my attention, too. So I took a picture of the booklet, circled the misspelled word and attached it to an email I sent to the seller.

@sol_cee I don't think Japan sells fake accessories, Sol. As what I know.

Can you return it if it is a fake?

Maybe you should return it and say that it is a fake.

I hope you can return it for a refund. I have gotten those tagged photos on Facebook for Rayban sunglasses. I always ignore it.

It could just be an honest typo. Happens all the time, even to the best of us. When I bought my rayban sunglasses they did not come with that booklet. But I got them from a local department store. Doubt they would sell counterfeit there.

If you used PayPal, you can ask PayPal to help getting back the money provided you could give them proof that the product was fake. As other pointed out, it could be just a typo mistake.

There are people who make clothes as a hobby, where they sew in an expensive label but the clothing is actually just handmade.

I don't think that I have ever bought a counterfeit product but then I might not have noticed.

Quite recently I had been to this app called Wish which you could get a lot of good stuff in cheap price. I got a few stuff only to realised that they are inferior products which I could not use. The only one probably i could use without too much issue will be a watch.

I hope they are authentic. Because Rayban and other name-brand sunglasses are very expensive, I would only buy them in an official Rayban store to ensure that they are the real thing. I would dislike paying all that money to find out they were fake.

lol You could keep them or give them away. My mother's boyfriend gave her a pocketbook. She didn't carry it so she gave it to me. It said Michael Kors on the bag, but when I looked up the bag I couldn't find one like it that Michael Kors made. So I think it's a fake. The purse is a little big and small in the inside so I have decided to give it away. I took off the name plates of it.
