Short Story: John dreams of the boy, Jesus (The Christ)

What is hidden deep in your own cave??

One night, not that long ago now, John was dreaming that he was walking along a gravel, grassy forest track, with a few scattered trees spread around. John came to a large tree, and he climbed up into it, and then he sat on a branch, and noticing some squirrels down on the ground, John picked off some nuts, and he threw them down to them, and they started nibbling on them then. Some squirrels run off with the nuts, in their mouth though, and John noticed that they seemed to disappear from his sight then. Curious by this, John climbed down from the tree, and he walked over to the spot, where the squirrels had been last seen by him. There were some bramble like thorny bushes there, which he pushed aside a bit, with a long tree branch, that he had found lying on the ground close-by. Then, John noticed a hole in the rock face there, which he put his hand into, and then feeling something in there, John pulled it out, and he found that it was an old leather covered like booklet or satchet, with loose thickly cut, but small, less than A4 sized, papyrus pages, placed on top of each other, with the rough brown leather cover covering around them all, as protection. There must have been around ten pages there, all in all. John saw that on the first page, it said simply, "Jesus" Then John read an entry further down that said. "Today my mother told me that I am the son of God, and that one day, I will tell that to the World." It seemed that this was written by the boy Jesus, when he was perhaps 13 or 14 years of age. Perhaps, Jesus didn't fully know or understand, when he was still a boy, the fullness of his coming role as the son of God yet then, and that much later, his body would lay stone dead, (for a while) in another cave. Like all humans, Jesus was born with an all knowing heart, connected to an all knowing God, and yet his consciousness had to be developed too, to match this. With God's help, this was done, but in the beginning stages as a boy, yes, Jesus’s consciousness was not fully aware of what was in his superconsciousness either, that is that he was actually God's son here to complete a mission here for God. That's what John concluded from his dream. Photo Credit: The photo used here was freely sourced from the free media site: pixabay.com. What is hidden deep in your own cave??

Yes, it's the same with me, and we often have to shine some extra light into our caves, to help us to make some extra discoveries too, in some new way.

Interesting story! Many caves have sheltered treasures of some sort. There is much yet to be discovered!

@innertalks I agree! Have you read the "Gospel of Thomas"?

@1hopefulman Yes, there are a lot of parables in there similar to the other gospels, but some new material too. The gospel of Saint Peter is also an interesting read.

Yes, thanks Hope. I believe that Jesus knew how to write, as he wrote with his finger in the ground once, and he certainly could read, as he read scriptures many times in the temples. And so, I think that he would have written stuff down over his life too. Maybe he wrote a letter or two to his mother at times, when he was away in other towns preaching, for example. Who can really know for sure, unless, such things are discovered one day, in some lost cave somewhere. I hope so!!

It seems that I've stumbled upon several caves in my life, each one giving me wisdom or strength to carry on. It's a special and peculiar blessing, fnding Jesus there, in whatever way He comes.

Yes, it sure is a beautiful blessing, finding Jesus, in these types of places. Jesus is our friend in all places, including caves, and in other frightening places too. We should not be afraid when we accept this great truth. "Do not be afraid", Jesus himself told us, and holding his hand, how could we ever be so.

@innertalks I will admit that my first reaction is often to fear, but God has brought me through so many things that I am slowly beginning to relax even though the cave seems deep and dark.

@peavey Yes, in some ways, as we get older we can learn to relax more, and take things in our stride better as well, and staying close to God helps us in our doing of this too, otherwise, some people can instead actually get more impatient with life, as they get older too. It is good to try and to stay more peaceful and calm amidst life's storms.

Yes, you never know what you might find, hidden away in a cave.

A very meaningful story Steve. We hardly scratch the surface of our caves carried away as we are by a material world and our superficial pursuits. We too have a lot left to realize our true potential. In a way, we too are God's children and spiritual beings. However, we have to step up and press on rather than get bogged down by pulling each other down - siva

Yes, thanks siva, and a lot of us are afraid of what we might find in our own caves, too, or some of us are just afraid of the darkness. This is why we need to stay attached to the light of God, so that we might go on exploring ourselves, and being who we are, and who we are meant to be. God told me this once in a church: "I am who I am, you be who you be."

@Shiva49 Yes, it is curiosity that keeps me going more than anything else. I am interested to see how life pans out for me and for others, while I am still alive.

@innertalks Yes Steve, it would be a real waste if we do not bother to find out who we really are. The spirit of inquiry should never desert us or left lying deep in our recess and forgotten - siva
