Another Storm Starting

It happens almost every summer afternoon. The wind picks up, lightning flashes thunder roars. These storms are quite scary. It sometimes seems like the world is ripping apart. Then, suddenly, it is over, just as quickly as it popped up. Do you have sudden storms where you live? Do they scare you or do you challenge the elements? Do you like or hate them? What do your pets do?

Do you live in an area with the floods? I understand that some parts of India are disaster areas from all the flooding.

My pets cowered and hid. Me, I always loved a storm. They never bothered me, except once. I was living on Guam and the thunder was so loud it sounded like it clapped the earth. The first time I heard it that loud, I think I jumped a foot. After that, it didn't bother me any longer. I got used to it being that loud.

I have had pets that hid during storms. I had a dog once who barked at the thunder. I think he was having a conversation with the thunderclaps. The other day, I heard one so loud right overhead that I jumped. I thought something exploded and I was in panic mode for a minute or two.

@just4him How long did you live in Guam and why were you there? Were you in the military?

Yes, we also have some sudden storms and I try to seek a place to be safe. At this age, it's not wise to challenge Mother Nature anymore. Better safe than sorry!

@akalinus He used to take risks! I love storms but like to watch them from a safe place these days.

My husband and a couple of my sons liked to stand out in lightning storms or even walk around in them. I thought that was so foolish. One almost got struck by lightning twice. Once in high school, he helped a farmer and lightning struck near the tractor he was driving. Another time, it hit on the sidewalk in front of him. He does not like storms anymore.

@akalinus I do not agree, I have seen how much Willy cared of me. He was so sick the last few days of his life, he had pain to move and did not eat, but he visited me every day to rub his little nose on my hand.

Cats, in general, do not care about much. They mostly care about themselves. You are only there to serve them.

@Shivram59 I saw videos of it. I can't imagine how terrifying and traumatic it must have been.

A lot of people enjoy storms but hail would scare me. It can really do damage.

They dont usually seem super sudden here, usually overcast first and then it rains al day. Hope everyone stays safe and the storm is over quick!

Safety is the first thing I think about. Most of our summer storms are over in a couple of hours unless they are part of a bigger system like a hurricane or a general rain over a wide area.

That is nice but I bet you have storms sometimes. You are the second person who said it is nice there but I keep hearing about a flood disaster there.
