Shadow Surveyed the Site

This morning, I walked straight to our backyard with a hot cup of brewed coffee. As usual, my son Shadow followed and was eager to inspect the area. Most of our plants and trees were broken down. Luckily, nothing happened to our abode. It was really a strong typhoon. The latest report that I read, it is approximately 59 people died in my city during Ompong typhoon. I felt bad for them and the main cause is landslides. "How do you prepare prior to typhoon or hurricane in your place?" "How's the weather in your city today?"

I'm glad you had little damage and none to the house. I just can't imagine being in a landslide. We rarely have them here.

I think my place is not in the sinking part. I hope it will never happen to anyone. I heard there is another typhoon coming.

@Shavkat I guess this is the season for them. How many do you expect in a year? Do you always have one or two?

I do agree with that. Unfortunately, Shadow's mother is missing until now. I am not sure she had been right now.

Wow, that's a terrible disaster! Thankfully, we don't have hurricanes but we have long, cold winters.

@Shavkat Yes, one should be prepared for our cold winter. If they don't like such weather then it might be better to go to a warmer place if they have a choice.

@1hopefulman I agree. I think if they really wanted to live there, then they should accept the situation. For me, I prefer to live in Canada than the USA.

I also heard about the winter season in your country. Some of my friends told me about it. They told me to expect such condition if ever I go to Canada.

I have never had to prepare for a typhoon @Shavkat. I am glad you and your loved ones are okay after all that fury from the typhoon. Here it is a very windy day today it is trying to bring rain.

During the rainy seasons, it is really inevitable not to prepare here. We just need the basic needs such as the food, batteries and the like. I like a windy weather and drizzle rain. It makes me relax.

@Shavkat I am sorry that you have them so much. I experienced an earthquake here in Jerusalem in a bomb shelter and I felt things shaking. Recently we have had earthquakes in other parts of Israel.

I heard there were lots killed in that typhoon, very sorry for their families. We get batteries, water, and cut down trees that might fall.

We are always prepared typhoon or no typhoon by God's grace , we have stocked food, water, medicine, solar lighting, batteries and equipment, our 70s house has withstood hundreds of typhoons. It's my scrap yard that freaks me out sometimes, I dont like things like scrap G.I sheets flying around and hitting something or someone so I keep them well secured and fastened, and double check even at night, yes pets are also my concern cause we cannot let them inside at the same time., trees is another one, we have a number of trees in our property that has not been pruned for quite sometime

I think we really need to secure our house with such situations. I hope there will be no next strong typhoon. Unfortunately, there is another one coming. Hopefully, it will change its course.

I felt so sad for the victims and their families. Could it be the open -pit mining was one of causes; so with the absence of big trees to hold the soil, plus the over development in the area? So glad you were unaffected.
