Happy last day of summer to those in my hemisphere! I don’t know about you, but I love summertime and will miss it as the days get colder and colder. Brrrrr!
However, I am looking forward to spending 6 months and 1 day when we head to Florida. The time we will spend there will be warm to hot, with a few cool days mixed in. Better yet, low humidity levels and a breeze from the ocean and Intercostal.
My photo is of my older son with my ice princess and grandson rafting on a river days before school began. What don’t these kids do???

I would love to be there rafting with them. It is so much fun!
While I don't like when it is very very hot and humid, it is preferable to the cold freezing weather which will upon us very soon. Have fun in Florida. So, are you now a permanent resident of Florida?

@DianneN Is it humid in Florida in winter?

That rafting was fun on a hot Labor Day weekend.
I'm not crazy about the humidity, but I'll take it over brrrr weather any day. We won't become Florida residents until we get there, get Florida licenses and voter registration. We also have to change our address permanently.

@DesirousDreamer . I suggest you don't go to Hong Kong in the summer. Holy moly! The humidity was the worst I've ever been in.

@DianneN Humidity is bad, but at least it is always expected to have rain. Arizona it feels like opening an oven door on 500 and just walking in the oven and shutting the door.

That's a very nice way to spend some time . And you'll meet summer again in two months! You are so lucky, I'm jealous . Here the days are getting colder and colder, I was even wondering if I should start the heater . But we expect a big drop in temperatures next week, so I'll have to do it eventually.
Have fun! See you later .

Thank you! That photo was taken at the beginning of the ride - notice my son gripping the kids' floats? Later on, they went all by themselves. I'm looking forward to Florida, but as I always do at this time of year, I have mixed feelings. I'm going to miss everyone so much.

@DianneN - We used to go river rafting when we were young. It is so much fun! It will be pleasant here in Southern California most of the year. There is generally only a 10 to 15 degree difference between summer and winter. I have become such a wimp since we moved to California that I don't go horseback riding if the low for the day is below 50 degrees! LOL Enjoy your six months and one day in Florida. Isn't that longer than you spent there last year?

@DianneN - Oh, I did miss that post. What a wonderful idea. It makes a lot of sense. We have friends who buy condos in Texas, where there is no income tax, for the same reason. Have a wonderful time. I look forward to lots of posts about Orville the Osprey! LOL

@DeborahDiane You were probably traveling somewhere when I posted it. Ha Ha! As usual, I hope Orville is still there. He's going to get an extra 2 months of me calling to him!

California does have such wonderful weather, except for the lack of rain. At 50 degrees, I'm walking Doodles in that mink coat of mine. Lol!
You must have missed my discussion. We are going to become Florida residents due to the exorbitant income tax rates here in Connecticut. It requires us so spend 183 days per year in Florida. Our CT house will become our vacation home. Imagine that?

They don't sit still for any length of time.
Ah yes, summer is over. YEA!!! Now the best season of the year begins - winter warm-up. Probably an oxymoron there, but Winter needs to get ready and what better way than to have fall bring the temps down and brighten up the landscape with those wondrous fall colors. Gotta love Fall for the diversity of color and temps. Winter is waiting in the wings to make her grand entrance with the first snowfall.
I know when that happens you'll be on a beach, chatting with Orville, rocking it with cocktails with friends and neighbors, and lying around the pool. You have a tough life.

No, they don’t. I can’t keep up with them.
I can’t believe the leaves are already changing. Good news for you - I heard it will be a colder and snowier winter than usual. You will be so happy!
I am looking forward to Florida. Kind of. I have that pre Florida sad feeling.

It amazes me how different the climates are between the northern and southern United States. I live in Atlantic Canada, pretty much in the same Time Zone as Florida, but weather wise, two very different seasons. Florida has 2 seasons...Summer and Hurricane. Enjoy your time in Florida.

If you go to Disney World,it is the company policy to "get rid of" any wildlife they find on their premises. Most of the time they keep people from getting killed, but a few unfortunate incidents slip in. Also,if you are told to evacuate,do it! I hear homeless are actually forciblly put into shelters when hurricanes hit.

@DianneN Alligators have apparently been coming to Disney World for decades.A guy commented he went there as a teen in the 1970s with his parents, smoked pot, then saw an alligator in the pool.He didn't tell his parents becsuse he didn't wsnt them asking questions

We've been to Disney World and Disneyland a few times. That alligator attack is proof enough for me to keep dangerous wild animals out of the parks. Luckily, we won't be in Florida during hurricane season, but would definitely evacuate if need be. Many thanks!

I love going tubing in the rivers here in north Florida during the summer! With it being so hot and muggy in Florida, the ice cold 72-degree spring water feels amazing!

@DianneN It is very refreshing, and very fun! Especially when you go with a large group of people. Of course, being the adventuresome guy that I am, I am always on the lookout for a rope swing up on the river banks!
