Yesterday I was surprised that my FB app logged me out of my account same thing happened to my FB messenger. I usually never log out my fb in my phone. Only did I realize that it was intentionally made by fb because they have discovered a security breach in their system that many are saying 90 million accounts are in danger of being breached. I logged on back again and checked everything to be ok at my end. They said no need to change my password. But I am still thinking of changing it later because of yhe incident. Do you think it’s necessary to change my password?

Yes replace it with an Alphanumeric password. Just write it on a note so you will never forget it.

@rsa101 To make sure you will never forget it, Make notepad file on your pc where it is written. Then have a Physical copy too.

Well fb had assured that there’s no need to change for as long as you don’t see accessibility problems in your account. But I think it’s the right thing to do. I will think of a new one that I will be able to remember well and a bit hard for others to figure out

I would think it is good to change the password from time to time. Where there is sensitive information I change it after every time I use it.

@1hopefulman That is what many are saying the best way to keep online passwords. Only you or anyone from your house has the access to it.

@rsa101 I have a book where I record them and keep it in a safe place close by. The book looks like any book on the shelf.

Already did. I decided though FB assured me there is no need but to be sure if there was a leak in their database means that my password and username is floating on the net somewhere and would be easy picking for anyone. Changing it means the hacker will have to make an effort to decipher my new password.

@jobelbojel maybe you can start making a new one to be sure your account is not compromised.

@rsa101 Actually, I am not expecting one can decipher my password. Just last week, someone is trying to log in to my Facebook account. A notification was sent to me.

@ridingbet Those that are logged in always are the most vulnerable at the time when they discovered the security breach. That is why before they patch it up they ensured everyone was logged out the reason why my account was logged out.

I only put FB on my phone recently and don't visit it each day. I wonder the point of the breach? It may have been to access info like phone numbers and email to be used outside of fb.
Usually problems are discovered when people you've known a long time ask to be your friend all over again. That usually means the person making the request's account was hacked. I don't know whether that's ever been done on a grand scale or not.

They are saying about tokens. I really do not understand what they were describing because it looks too technical already that I do not know what it means. But they said they have patched the vulnerability already and is not supposed to cause harm on anyone anymore.

@rsa101 it's not like we have banking info on that site. I visited fb earlier on my phone and wasn't logged out but I don't know whether I entered with the app or web site or if it matters

Yeah I just got to be aware of it a couple of days ago. My account looks ok I think they just log me out for precautionary measure to be sure that I can enter normally again. But I did change the passwords to be sure that any attempt on my account would take them a bit harder if my account details was leaked out to others.
