I Do Not Like Being Rushed!

A few weeks ago my husband and I stopped for dinner at a local restaurant before going to a play at the theater.
We gave ourselves plenty of time for a drink with appetizers and the rest of our dinner.
As you can see in the photo, while I was sipping my martini, my bowl of clam chowder arrived. While I was halfway through the clam chowder, our crab cake and fries arrived! I didn’t know what to gobble up first!
I may be a slow eater, but this was ridiculous.
My husband spoke to the owner and dinner was on the house!!!
Has that ever happened to you?

@DianneN - Not often. More often, it seems that the service can be slow in a popular restaurant. I am a slow eater, too. I often end up taking half my meal home to eat the next day, not just because I try to watch how much I eat, but because I eat so slowly we would be there all night if I didn't take half of it home! LOL

@DianneN - On our first date, my husband took me out for a lobster dinner. I didn't finish and brought part of it with me in a "doggy bag." However, I forgot about it and left it on the floor of his Jaguar. The next night, he had a date with someone who worked near him. He said when they got in his car, after it had sat in the sun outside his office all day, it stank terribly! He still teases me that I sabotaged his date with that other girl. LOL

Not too often. You should be given time to enjoy each course in a restaurant

I have not yet encountered a similar problem. I think it was a nice gesture on the part of the owner.

all that food looks so delicious!! I can't say that I've run into that problem of them rushing you but maybe they were very busy and needed you to finish so they could seat other people? At least your dinner was free

They were busy, so that may have been it. It was nice of the owner to do that for us. We had time to spare before the play began, and ran into dear friends of ours in the lobby. It gave us an opportunity to chitchat, so things do work out for the best. That's my motto!

I'm happy your husband said something. I agree. I don't like my food to get cold sitting there, nor do I like to rush to eat.

@FayeHazel My brother ate at a 5 star Michelain restaurant in Paris. He was so impressed with the food and presentation that he sent his compliments to the chef. That chef was the owner and came out to meet my brother and sis-in-law and posed for photos. Now, they are very good friends and always return for a meal there when in Paris.

@DianneN Oh that's awesome. Your husband sounds like an extraordinary person. It's true, I think that the chefs/cooks don't often get appreciated for their work, so I'm sure the chef was so flattered

Oh, my! You had two burgers each and those fries are a plenty. And look at the patties of the burger, they areso thick , that I know my mouth cannot open wide that big.
But I can see that they have those green olives , which is my fave and my daugher's too.
So, were you able to ea them all? Let me guess, yes!

Compared to the patties here, they are so thin.

@sunrisefan We were. I only ate the crab cakes without the bun and a few fries. My husband and, the pig, ate everything - as usual!

Maybe, sometimes they do rush the food..one time though I was out to dinner with my son..he was fairly young..and I went to the restroom. I said to him I will be right back..and before I returned..they had taken the rest of my food away! I asked my son..why he didn't tell them I was coming back..he said.."They were fast."

It's more advisable to eat your food slowly, you don't want to choke on the food.

when we dine out, the waiter asks us what our desserts will be. we tell him but remind him that desserts should be given once our table is already clean from our dinner.
maybe the restaurant was full of people that is why the manager wants your table to be vacated quickly to accommodate some of those in the waiting list?

@andriaperry They always know I'm not finished. I'm the slowest eater on the face of the earth! But they do ask.
