What Are You Reading? What Are You Watching?

I just popped on here to check my notifications and figured I'd add a post to my afternoon chit chat. I haven't read or written a post about current reading so I was wondering what you're reading these days? I'm currently half way through the book Shelter in Place by Nora Roberts. I haven't read one of her books in a long time but my daughter just finished it and passed it along to me. As for tv viewing....are you watching any of the new shows that came on this season? I'm back in full swing with Survivor, Dancing With the Stars, all the Chicago Shows (Chicago Med, Fire and PD) Grey's Anatomy and Blue Bloods. I started watching the new show New Amsterdam and I'm happy that Fox picked up Last Man Standing. I'm a full-fleged book and tv addict and it amazes me sometimes how I can multi-task while the tv is on but I really have to concentrate when reading. How about you? reading or watching anything good lately?

I have been watching The Good Doctor, Better Call Saul, A million Little Things, Manifest, New Amsterdam, and a few new ones coming up tonight. I love the ones we've seen so far. I'm reading De Bernieres "Corelli's Mandolin. After 4 chapters, I was hooked.

I am loving A Million Little Things! It made me cry, but it also made me laugh pretty hard. Who is your favorite character?

@Marilynda1225 Yes, we are having trouble, too with those airing at the same time. Love these shows. I hope you saw Breaking Bad before watching Better Call Saul. They are connected and Better Call Saul is what leads up to Breaking Bad. It has many of the same characters. Yes, I'll read just about anything that catches my interest, even war stories that take place in Greece. lol

The book I am currently reading I don't like, nor do I recommend it. It's the story and the writing style. It's taking me forever to get through - On The Up by Shilo Jones. As for television, just watched Law & Order: SVU, and the season premier of Criminal Minds blew my mind. Cried several times during that one. Even watched it a second time. So, so awesome. I'm also watching (recorded) DWTS because we watch The Voice. And Big Bang Theory is back for its final season. Blue Bloods is another one I watch and... and... and... hockey season has begun!

@Marilynda1225 I still have 2 episodes of DWTS to watch. I managed to get home in time last night to watch BBT and SVU even though I had set the PVR. Trying not to record to much because I can't find the time to watch them. Drove me crazy when Criminal Minds and SVU were on at the same time. Thankfully they changed that.

I have to record many of the shows I like because of conflicts when they air. Due to our conflicts we've had to watch The Voice on Hulu but Big Bang is on our DVR to watch (hopefully over the weekend) I watched Blue Bloods last night so now I'm ready for tonights.

You sound like me! I haven't read fiction in awhile, but I read a lot of non fiction. Some of the new shows I have seen and liked are The Cool Kids and A Million Little Things. I also started watching Last Man Standing now that it is on FOX, like you mentioned. I didn't watch it on ABC, but with the big deal about it being resurrected I decided to watch. The premiere was pretty good. Others that I watch are MacGyver, American Housewife, The Big Bang Theory, Mom, and HGTV shows like Flip or Flop: Las Vegas, Good Bones, Hometown, and Desert Flippers. Since I don't have the time to watch all that I have way too much on my DVR. I still have four episodes of MacGyver from last season on my DVR that I should watch before any new ones. And six unwatched episodes of Homicide Hunter.

@Courtlynn I think you would like A Million Little Things. It really shows depression in a unique way, but it's not all sad. It can be hilarious.

@Marilynda1225 I have no idea why it was cancelled. I guess the network didn't like the ratings it was getting.

@Marilynda1225 I have read some of their novels during summer, but not the Poirot series. My husband two weeks ago ordered the full Poirot series from Amazon, I got the book and decided to read it.

That sounds like fun. Hercule Poirot was one of my favorite characters and since Agatha Christie has popped up in many discussions I'm thinking maybe of going back and reading some of her books again.

Not reading anything. Too busy getting my book ready for publishing. Maybe when it is, I'll find time to read the three books I've started. As for what I'm watching, yes, Manifest and New Amsterdam, though I need to watch it on Hulu as it's on too late for me to watch in prime time. I also started watching Last Ship on Hulu. Another very good show.

I finished reading Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon yesterday. Yesterday I watched an episode of Mr. Mercedes. Today I watched the movie Everything, Everything which was based on the book. I also watched an episode of This is Us. I plan on starting Miss Peregrine's House for Peculiar Children today.

I'm reading The Most Human Human, by Brian Christian. It's about the whole AI thing and "what talking with computers teaches us about what it means to be alive". A little dense but a good read so far.
