Dreaming of Holiday Junk Food

Today, I want some holiday food. I am dreaming of eggnog, gingerbread cookies, rum raisin ice cream, and chocolate anything. Thinking of it brings back fond memories of when the kids were little and believed in magic.
What kind of goodies do you like for your winter holiday celebrations? Can you wait or will there be secret smuggling?

mmm i could drink eggnog by the gallon, so good. sometimes we make "holly clusters" which are basically green rice crispies (but using corn flakes) topped with either red sprinkles or Red Hots (hot cinnamon candies) and voila they look like little clusters of holly! another thing i do is crush up peppermint sticks and mix them in with my vanilla ice cream, just to make it a little more festive lol

I have a question for you, Bree... What is it that you swear to think about? (I am referring to your tag name.)
My pc says I've not encountered you before. Welcome to myLot!

It isn't even November yet, Jo Ann! How can you be thinking of holiday foods when it isn't even close to the holidays?
Let me see... pecan pie, chocolate fudge, peanut butter balls and pretzels dipped in chocolate are some of the goodies my family used to make for Thanksgiving and Christmas... I know how to make all of them. That doesn't mean I will be making them, though.
I am losing weight right now. (I've lost a total of 40 lbs according to my doctor.) Eating those things might not help me lose weight.

@akalinus Uhm... you know it might not be your mind that is crazy...
I just read an article that claims that some food manufacturers have been putting ingredients into desserts that are addictive. That may be why we can't help but eat more of them than we should be eating!

@DaddyEvil I think chocolate is addictive. Sometimes, I wonder what they put in ice cream and other foods that people get addicted to.

What are the names of some of those foods, Jaishankar?
My daughter loves to make foreign foods. Maybe she will decide to make some of those if you tell us their names!
Thank you!

I love eggnog and gingerbread cookies for the holidays. I try to find sugar free pumpkin anything. I went shopping yesterday and did you know Safeway locally already has eggnog. I found a recipe for just one eggnog cup with soy milk and going to have that for it's sugar free too. As for gingerbread cookies, I got to watch my sugar so I'll be looking for no sugar added or sugar free cookies. I love the holidays, for I buy extra roast pork, and look for good roasting meat if the price is right to treat myself at the holidays. Not a turkey eater, but like chicken tenders on sale.

@oahuwriter That is great if that is what you wanted to eat. Once I made a meatloaf shaped like a turkey but that was then and this is now.
