Do you have a favorite cold weather activity?

Now that the temperature is dropping, in most of North America..and other places in the world..what do you like to do when it is cold? Personally, I like to stay in and bake or make soup. I also love taking baths. I used to enjoy cold weather sports to a degree, but not so much these days. I might do some cross country skiing though if I get a chance. It is really good exercise. What is your favorite thing to do when it is cold? Fall like temperatures are my very favorite. What do you like to do when the thermometer drops?

I like to get a book, prepare a hot chocolate and go to read sitting on the sofa near the fireplace.

That is always pleasant. I do like to drink hot chocolate in the winter. Sadly, this house doesn't have a fireplace, but I do have a fake woodstove that emits heat, and has a very nice display.

@LadyDuck I don't mind going out unless it is very, very blustery.

I prefer staying indoors with a quilt personally, when it gets cold out.

Well your weather is probably fairly cool most of the year. My former mother in law used to live in New Hampshire..it was fun visiting her.

While summer is the time for soft fruits, this time of year is for soups and chowders and cassroles - all after a good walk in the chill

I like to go out for long walks when the weather gets cooler here. We don't have Winter but we do get the cold air from China and it's lovely when that happens, which is usually from December to February.

How about hiking? You don't sweat a lot in this season. And there are many great national parks in your country and you can explore them well

I second that about the baths and the soup making! Cooking and crafty indoor projects also. This year I think i will attempt to make home made candles and soaps for Christmas presents and for fun!

I have done the home made candle thing before, I think it is a bit messy. I never tried the home made soap thing..but I don't think it is super hard.

The temp never really drops that far in Southern California so you can do most things year around.
